1. Lewis Hamilton - I think i don't need to explain. Fast, young, talented, interesting. He's the one who made F1 great for 2 years.

Not true...

5. Robert Kubica - Mr.Consistent

Also not true

Edit: Whoops. Didn't actually mean to double-post >.<

Please explain, what's wrong with my ratings on Hamilton. Fast - must be true. Young - Absaolutely. Talented - He beated Alonso in his FIRST year. Interesting - Very agressive and makes a lot of overtakes when necessary. If you're not okay with me placing him first, it's okay - I don't need everyone praising him but beating Alonso in 2007 made it clear to me. Last year also, there was no one who could stop him. Only thing that made last year exciting were his stupid mistakes which disappear while he get's older and also Belgium killed his momentum, but he fought back.

I think he was referring to your point about him being the one who has made F1 great for the last 2 years...

Kubica was great all year long in 2008 but in the end something happened. Maybe too optimistic to put him to 5th position while he hasn't proved nothing. Maybe put Button on 5th place, he's VERY consistent this year.

What has Vettel proved? This year is a f***-up for F1. Last year's Italy he was fortunate it started raining at wrong time so Hamilton couldn't get a better starting position. He was a beast and made like 10 overtakes. Vettel had to fight with Kovalainen, Bourdais and Webber. I agree - he's better than them.

Can't say nothing about Rosberg, Williams haven't put up a considerable car for years.

Hamilton is not solely responsible for making Formula One exciting over these past few years as you suggest. Alonso, Raikkonen, Massa, Heidfeld, Kubica, Kovalainen, Barrichello, Sutil, Winkelhock, Vettel, Webber, Coulthard, Rosberg, even Sato, are all drivers who have contributed over the past couple of years. And those are just ones that have had drives I can recall easily - there have been more.

Kubica isn't exactly Mr. Consistent. He just had one consistent year in 2008. This year, he's been all over the place, same with 2007 and the part of 2006 he competed in. That said, I don't disagree with you placing him in the top few drivers - the guy is quite talented.

Well now you can.

I think there hasn't been a driver who's all out every race. He pushes it to the limit, so it's a win or lose. That's why he's making it interesting in my opinion. He's a rookie so he makes mistakes, that's why he hasn't been SO dominant. 2007 he dominated until 2 last races where's he showed that he's just a rookie yet, it was a heartbreak for McLaren fans and party for Ferrari fans, but in the big picture made it intense.

2008 was great. Finals showdone was incredible, why do you think these two years have been so intense and from now on somehow it's back to boring again. New updates have put cars into two groups - Red bull, Brawn vs others. Even though Hamilton fights for lower positions, it's not so great to watch when points are not included.

That's why he makes it exciting.

They don't have exactly a championship contender car, so I can't say. He's not fighting for the real prize

Generally speaking, i'd say the Williams is about the 4th best car just behind the Toyota's, but the drivers weren't reflecting this in the races, although things seem to be improving! That is why Rosberg annoyed me earlier in the year, he was making comments without anything to back them up...

[cap-dude]

^^erm *cough* Two people have included Button in their top 5, and a good few people have made an honourable mention for him.

Also, Hamilton did make exciting races. But its not a one man show. Kimi, Massa, and Alonso where there too putting in great drives.

@A-style
Kubica really can't be called consistent. He's somewhat erratic at times. There's been a few times, we hear him complain about the balance of the car and it completely throws him. So he can either be very fast, or very slow. In 2008 luckily he did have a run of good results, and we didn't see that side of him. But near the end of the year, it wasn't so. A lot of people blame that on the lack of updates to the BMW car, but the truth is. They did update it, but not to the same extent as Ferrari and McLaren, especially McLaren.

I agree with ivey. I think that Hamilton does make things more interesting, and his first 2 years show that. Its also true that its less interesting him battling for places outside the points, but at least he is still battling. in todays GP, his battle with Alonso was pretty much the highlight, and it was all over 16th!

Yeah but it seems like Hamilton is being made out to be the sole reason for everything being how it was, which is, frankly, a laughable suggestion.

1. Alonso
2. Raikkonen (but unsure, because it is only when he can be bothered)
3. Vettel (after his dominating races)
4. Hamilton
5. Jenson? (probably because of this season)

Yeah that's my point, he should race alone!

You don't get the point, if there was no Hamilton in F1 it'd be boring. No other drives so agressively so there wouldn't be so many overtakes. Alonso, Raikkonen and others are patient, which most of the time pays them off but it's not exciting to watch.

Hmm. Somehow, I find that your statement is flawed. I wonder why that could be..?

Haha, i don't miss your point at all, i just think that you are incorrect. I'm not doubting that Hamilton makes things more exciting, i definitely agree with you there. He just isn't the only driver who does that! Can you not see what i am getting at?! There are so many examples of exciting racing from the past two years that don't even involve him, it would almost be an insult to have to list them!

If you think things are more boring without Hamilton, go watch the 2005 Japanese GP. In fact, in terms of the on-track racing being entertaining, 2005 was just as good if not better than any other recent season - pretty much every race was watchable, even last season we got races where nothing happened at all, like China, Valencia, Barcelona....
