"When I arrived in December, I remember the car I drove; I remember the results they had in 2006. And now, you know, I brought to the team half a second, six tenths, whatever, and I don't see anything giving me back.

Mmm hmm....and the decrease in lap times has *absolutely nothing* to do with all the work that the mechanics, designers and everyone else in the McLaren team have done.....

Yes think Alonso might have pissed a few people off with that comment. Not very clever!

The reason why Alonso's "not getting anything back" is because of his pathetic childish attitude. If he didn't have his stupid paranoid tantrums over "Hamilton's getting preferential treatment" and "banging wheels" with Massa and then his "delay Hamilton" tactics, he might have got something back from the team.

This (Alonso) could have been Schumacher a few years ago if Ferrari had only employed drivers instead of assistants!

You have it all wrong, when Alonso joined Mclaren he spent the first few days tinkering around in the back of the car with a spanner and found over half a second. I can understand his annoyancies fully when the engineers and design guys try to take some of the credit for that.

*First post*
I have 1 question (for the moment) and it hardly seems worthy of a thread so here it is:

How do a team define a Number 1 driver and Number 2 driver by the way it treats each driver? I mean the way FA is saying LH is getting preferential(sp) treatment? This has me somewhat confused

There are many ways a team can prioritize a number one driver, among them are: always first choice in quali/race strategy incl. fuel loads, timing of pitstops, etc., no passing by teammate ever, even being let by if behind number two (can also be done during pitstops to make it less obvious), first dips for new parts/engines, etc., better pitcrew/mechanics, etc., 'help' on track from the number two driver (holding up the competition)...

^^i think thats what happened in France.
in a race, the leading driver should get the prime pit stop, meaning they pit second.
But in france they took felipe in first from the lead, and sent him out behind traffic, allowing kimi to take a win, despite massa clearly being the faster on that day.

Alonso comments are a huge insult to the 1000 McLaren mechanics, designers, etc. Mclaren was winning world chapionships when Alonso wasn't even born. What a egocentric, selfish, mean person alonso is. If Lewis can't win the WDC I hope Massa or Kimi pick up the WDC.

Look at what's happened at Renault without him, look at what's happened at McLaren with him.

A double world champion brings status to a team as well.

It's interesting how a driver get's a couple of notches in his belt in F1 and his every word and move is criticized.
hes seems to be getting criticised on here a lot by people who seem obviously to know more than he does himself about the situation at McLaren, so i just read themm and laugh!!!!1....i wonder what they will be saying if he ends up world champion again this year!!!!! :D

It's well known that McLaren have only produced competitive cars every other year since the turn of the century. Or at least for the past few years anyway.

Also, what's to say that's not to do with Lewis, rather than Fernando?
