Hi guys,

I'm after some help. I mistakenly let the wife book our holiday flights and it turns out we'll be in the air for most (if not all) of the Turkish GP.

Does anyone know a good radio station to get live coverage and if it'll work at 30,000ft?

Thanks,
Andy.

Hm, sounds like irreconcilable differences between you and your wife as to planning a vacation - good reason to divorce her! :D
Hey, wives have been killed for less :twisted:8)
Good luck looking for a dedicated F1 babe!:mrgreen::mrgreen:

Stop putting idea's in my head. There are enough voices doing that already. :D

It's bad enough that we are flying back from Italy the week before Monza!:shock:

Ok, that does it! Leaving Italy before Monza?!? She's got a vicious and mean streak your wifie. Who's in the driver seat you said? Just look at my avatar to see how it's done!!!

Whisper, whisper: I heard arsenic in toothpaste works pretty well, slow, but well. :D

Good thinking Phil, sadly it's way off the flight path. But how much do you think the pilot will need to be bribed for the detour and to lap the circuit a few times?

Darwin, I've always fancied racing up one of those scooters....NEEOOWWW!

Andy you have my deapest sympathies! I'm in a similar position. Im flying to France and will be landing at Carrcassone (think you spell it like that?) just before the race starts. What bad planning!! DOES ANYONE KNOW A SPORTS BAR IN CARRCASSONE
PS Andy let me know if you find a radio station

Racechick, the only radio station I've found so far is Five Live. But I doubt very much I'll be able to get the broadcast while in flight. We take off at midday and land at four so it's looking like I'll have to wait till I get back.

You might be able to pick them up in France if your not too far south?

Thanks for the suggestion, actually it is down southwhere i'm going but ive just checked tickets and land earlier than i thought. If i drive like im in the race i might get to my destination in time to see it!!!!! Its horrible when a race is on and you cant get to see it. I have a suggestion for you, speak nicely to the pilot and see if he'll show it on one of his many screens in his cockpit  Sorry, not a time to joke. A real suggestion. Get a kind friend to record it then drive straight home speaking to no-one who could tell you the result, crack open a bottle of wine(or beer whatever is your choice) and pretend its live, Good luck

as far as i know you can't even get radio coverage in the internet, due to contracts with bernie, the stations are not allowed to put their coverage of f1 online, as you could listen to five live anywhere in the world, which would interfere with broadcasting contracts of the country you're visiting...

i found this out the hard way... sat in a french hotel room trying to watch the oz gp, on french tv... logged onto net, and went to the five live site and it says they cant play it.. :(:(

well you could carry an antenna for the long long long...waves, i mean that you could receive the NASA frequency, but they won't let you use it, it's forbidden using radio instruments on planes mate!

Hmm, thanks guys. Looks like the best plan is to record it, make sure there's a cold one in the fridge and put a sign on my forehead for the week saying 'Please Don't Mention The F1'.

MMM didnt realise it was your 'out flight'. that makes it a bit more tricky. You may have to wear ear plugs and blindfold all week as well as the sign on forehead.
One longshot chance, can you phone or email your destination and BEG them to record it for you?
