has A1/Nascar/Indycar pulled ahead with all f1 technology going backward and all the politics we have?

No, not even close

Formula One has always had political involvement and Formula has a higher standard of drivers, physically and mentally as well as driving skill. Hence, you see a lot of Formula One rejects over in the US.

f1 technology is going foward in terms of enviromental engines etc. F1 has and always will be the pinnacle of motorsport

Just look at the aero or the brakes or transmissions or materials used or....
F1 is the science lab of the car industry and by definition cutting edge and always ahead in the most important areas with few exceptions, which are for the most part self-imposed (or F1 wouldn't have any raceable tracks and would end up stirring up dust on a salt lake in Utah 18 times a year).

F1 MUST be the top of motorsports, if not, then why would so many drivers from all over the world want to be there? (including plenty of america's best)

it may not be the best for overtaking, or ultimately the fastest in a straight line, but i bet you couldn't find a faster car on a proper racing circuit. (by proper, i mean one with left AND right hand bends). Even the Spyker would beat the best of the rest, and a Mclaren or Ferrari would leave most for dead.

Formula one is not big in the US for one simple reason, no one knows what F1 is. It has nothing to do with technology or political reasons. Sports is big time in the US, but motorsports takes a back seat. We got too many damn things to watch, Football, Basketball, Hockey, Baseball, Golf, NCAA, Boxing, Tennis, etc... Even Nascar has taking a dive in the ratings. Open wheel racing (champ/cart) and series like the America LeMans is popular "underground". Kids growing up in the US don't dream about driving kart and moving up, they dream about signing a $100million(yes they get paid that much!!) contract with the New York Yankees or Dallas Cowboys. If you are not exposed to it, then chances are you will not know about it and like it. Plus we got idiots like Derek Daly that can't pronounce Kubica or Barrichello on live TV, it makes it look even worse.

Technology wise F1 is unequalled by a very very long way. Just tonight I was watching some CART highlights and the Aero on those cars looks like F1 cars from the early 90's.

However I often find myself watching the bikes or the stupid lower formula's of any form of racing, yes even motorcross and those guys in italy that plonk a big heap of dirt in a shoppingcentre car park and go mucking around on their motorcross bikes for the ones simple reason, there is a lot of passing and it makes exciting viewing.

Before F1 enter's the stratosphere of sport it needs to have more passing.

And 10 years ago they looked like cars from the 80's... they must indeed be stuck in a time bubble 10 years into the past.
