I am suprised at how many teams of entered, and I am starting to wounder how many of them are legit? how many of these teams are not just some of Max's mates saying yes we have entered a team?

I only say this because as far as I can see FOTA have 2 things that give them any weight with the FIA,
1, If they did not race then there would be no one to replace them on the grid so F1 would not exist.
2, All the history an glamour of F1 would be missing without Ferrari, Mclaren.

So how would you dilute their power if you where Max? Make it look like they are being replaced for next year, and being replaced by historic names from the past, eg Lotus, Brabham, and Aston Martin.

Thinking about it maybe when next years entry list appears it will be:-

all the teams from this year
minus Toyota (they can make it look like they where not wanted so would not loose face by quiting like Honda did) and maybe BMW for the same reason

Plus
I think USGP and Prodrive/aston and maybe some other teams that have got more money than the available budget cap (as I can not see that not rising by next year)

We'll find out on the 12th when the entry list is published! FOTA's demands of a new concorde agreement being signed by the 12th is unreasonable to expect given the complicated nature of the agreement and the timescale to produce the document. All these teams could well be valid and legit given that costs would be significantly reduced and many teams have probably entered because they see a realistic chance of being admitted to F1 because of the threats of the big boys to quit if they don't get their way! Next Friday will be interesting to say the least; I still see an agreement to a €100m cap and technical assistance to newcomers happening between FOTA and the FIA!

I said something similar on this thread.

It's not necessary for it to be really realistic that a F1 with these historic in name only teams would be seen as credible. It's only required that it would cause the teams to think more seriously whether or not the FIA is bluffing.
