Thing is, quite a few rookies have come into the sport and have been well on top of car setup from the go. Kimi, Nico, Alonso, are a few I've heard former engineers talk about in interviews as having a natural knack for it. The guys like Kimi especially, who have come up the old fashioned way with a mechanical back-ground and had to buy, build and maintain their own equipment in order to get through karting and other junior series, those guys are bound to have a better knowledge of setup when coming into F1 than those who have had their entire career bankrolled and have just had to drive the thing.

LMAO. You're making some big statements my friend. Ones I agree with, but some won't on here...

For what it's worth, this is what Hamilton said:

"Yesterday I went down a certain route and it was working quite well for me, and I tested that this morning. I was happy with the car, but it was leading to us being in a vulnerable position.

"So we opted to go through, and at the end of P3, it was kind of a gamble going back to the set up we ran in P1. We didn't know if it would work on this track, and it was a disaster. The car was locking up, hopping.

"We did a lot of work yesterday to reduce the problems we had, but due to certain circumstances we went back on it, and on lighter fuel as well, whilst everyone improved, those problems hindered us and I wasn't able to put together a great lap."

Now, it could just be the fact that the McLaren is just crap on certain types of circuit, but at the same time i can't ever remember an F1 car with such wildly inconsistent characteristics. Strange either way! Also, like i said, it's Toro Rosso (who are struggling even more than McLaren) too, and how can their cars be so much slower than the Red Bulls?! I certainly can't believe the outright pace of the drivers and the engine performance make such a big difference on their own...

LH was only with McLaren from 1998 and had there support for the 1999, 2000, and 2001 karting seasons before that it was Lewis and his dad.

From 02 he was with Formula 1 Renault and you need a team for that.

Its not like Kimi was going to his race engineer at formula Renault its aright lads i've been engineering up my own Kart since i was 8 i'm sure i can learn a Formula Renault car no problem.

Besides Lewis still came up the old fashioned way he just had Mclaren's Money to help

You are serious then? Ok, so Lewis was sponsored by McLaren at the age of 13, and you are saying the prior to THAT, it was only his dad and him doing the wrenching. Prior to 13.

13 years old.

Ok, well I'm sure at 12 he was one hell of a setup mechanic. No seriously, you have a point there. He is actually just this side of a chief F1 mechanic. If he wasn't the next Senna, he certainly would be the next McLaren chief master wrench. Or space shuttle designer. Perhaps laser missile defense system designer and engineer. Hell, if Lewis Hamilton wanted to, he could fly by flapping his ears, shoot golden coins out of his bum and change water to wine with a glance from his beautiful eyes. He is the second coming of christ, but has chosen to race instead of save mankind. Lewis Hamilton is the ultimate culmination of human evolution!!!!

Either that or carbon copy of Villeneuve....depending on your viewpoint of course. I wonder how the view is from the back of the pack?

I do enjoy reading your over the top rants, however i really would recommend you calm down and do a little research before going of on a rant.

Try watching this? its taken from a BBC documentary which was released after the 2007 world championship.

Oh and i'm the same age as Lewis and at his age i was quite adapt at helping my dad fix his car or repairing my bike or for a wider example fixing a pc.

So i'm guessing at 12 or so Lewis with the help of his dad was able to engineer and set-up a go-kart since thats what he was racing at that age.

But as usual i have to point you to the error of your ways i'm getting abit board of doing so, so do PLEASE try and research a topic before quoting me and having a rant.

Alternativly if you are unable to do that simply don't quote me or respond to my posts.

Thanks

That was a cool video Longbow thanks. You're right, it's a shame some people become hysterical about lewis when they are in possession of so few of the facts. Well they will have to live and learn! One day they will see the eror of their blinkered thinkng.
