With Prodrive F1 becomeing Aston Martin, will this mean we'll see some Aston Martin Engines in F1? I can't think of any other reason why he wouldn't just make it Aston initialy other than the fact there's no engine ready.

I know very little about F1 engines but i understand Aston manufactor a V8.

Would it be possible for Aston to convert this to F1 use?

or we going to be looking a new engine entirely.

Richards is too tight to put money into an engine program. he wants a McLaren Mercedes package!

Why not just call it aston martin this year then?

pretty silly tho Mercades-Aston Martin?

thats why i think they'll do an engine for it..

I posted this in another thread I believe.

Aston Martin is to enter F1 from 2012 as a fully-fledged manufacturer entrant, according to a report in Autocar magazine. The company will put its name on a new F1 team to be launched by Prodrive. The new F1 team announced will run as Prodrive in 2010, before being rebranding as Aston Martin in 2012. Aston Martin’s Prodrive-run sportscar racing programmes will continue. It is expected that the Prodrive team will get much assistance from McLaren Racing and will almost certainly use Mercedes-Benz engines. The cars will be built at Prodrive's Banbury factory. The team is understood to have picked up two big sponsors in the Middle East.

The idea that British Leyland could build something aerodynamic is hilarious, sponsorship from LDV?

Who owns Aston Martin these days? I have completely lost track; didn't Ford buy it; I know that Ford bought Jaguar!

They could also use that old V8 from the Rover SD1 which started its life in America on a scrap heap. :P

Let's use the suspension and automatic gearbox from the SD1 as well; that's a sure-fire winner! :hehe:

I would think that they would just use Merc engines until Aston Martin took over?

On 12 March 2007 a consortium led by Prodrive chairman David Richards purchased Aston Martin for £475m/$848m. Prodrive has no financial involvement in the deal. Ford will keep a stake in the company (valued at £ 40 million / $ 70 million). The consortium also consisted of John Sinders, an Aston Martin collector; and two Kuwaiti investment companies, Investment Dar and Adeem Investment Co.

In December 2008, Aston Martin announced that it would cut its 1850 workforce by 600.

Last year, Jaguar (and Rover) were bought off Ford by the Indian Tata Motors, Ltd.
