On another note the flywheel system has a design life of one season but the batteries of the electrical system have to be replaced for every race - green huh?

Interesting article in this month's F1 Racing on that matter, apparently Williams has a division dedicated to use of their flywheel KERS system in 'every day' scenarios, and they are looking at putting it on buses. Good work by Williams there!

The KERS division at Williams was a local company that Sir Frank bought into which was researching into Hybrid technology. Once again Sir Frank has demonstrated what a shrewd businessman he is. :)

Are F1 cars Manual gears or Automatic?
I should know.

Plus because a team has been kicked out of the FOTA (Williams), they can still run in F1 next year?

They're semi-automatic. The driver still has to change gears, but they don't have to operate the clutch manually.

And yes, they can enter the sport next year. Williams have only been suspended from current FOTA activities. FOTA cannot prevent teams lodging entries for a championship with the FIA.

paddle shift too, so they do not have to find the gear just press the change gear buttons.

Sweeet.
I swear automatics are absolutly diabolically easy to drive. Steer, brake, accelerate.
Yeah someone told me Williams had been kicked out of F1, and I was like no just the FOTA gang.
So just checking you see.

In fact, lodging their entry is why they got kicked out.

Look for Brawn, Force India and McLaren to follow tomorrow. BMW might do likewise, and Red Bull if Bernie can talk Dietrich into it.

I respect Williams for the reasoning for commiting to next year.
