Hello Fellow F1 Fanatics.

My name is Jason, I'm originally from Plymouth in the United Kingdom now residing in Wichita, KS with my American wife and son. I've followed F1 since the early 90s although in recent years my loyalty has waned with the lack of wheel to wheel action but I still watch when I can. It's harder to get the motivation to watch F1 now that I live in the US; getting up at 7am on a Sunday morning isn't too easy for someone that likes his bed too much!

Can someone please direct me where nearest machine?

Welcome to the forum my friend and allow me to offer my earlybird F1 experience's. Get up about 30min's before the race starts or 45min's for an early shag and cook a hearty breakfast and then after the race take a power nap. Nothing made my sundays more enjoyable than doing that.

Get a DVR from Cox, program it and watch the race whenever you get up - even if the tail end of the race is still being recorded, you can start watching the recording from the beginning (and skip the commercials as an added benefit).

Get a DVR from Cox, program it and watch the race whenever you get up - even if the tail end of the race is still being recorded, you can start watching the recording from the beginning (and skip the commercials as an added benefit).

ive tried that, for some odd reason even though you dont know who won etc its just isnt the same as watching it live though

Well, the Kansas Englishman according to his own post is not what you'd call a die-hard F1 fan that gets up early early to watch a race live, duh! So, the DVR I'm sure will be just fine for him.

My problem is insomnia; I can't get to sleep much before 4am most nights; getting up 3 hours later tends to be a little difficult. I would DVR it but we don't want to pay extra money to Cox; we pay almost $80 for basic internet and TV package already; Cox is well overpriced compared to what I am used to back in the UK!

And given the choice; Kansas wouldn't be my first choice to live but I met my wife through mySpace so had to move where she lives; although she hates it here too; which is why we are saving to move somewhere else instead of wasting extra money with Cox!

Ironically 5am would be easier for me because of my insomnia. texasmr2, maybe I'll follow your advice for Turkey next weekend...

I would class myself as a die hard fan; just that I don't watch every race; other things take priority over F1 now that I am a family man. But I follow the results and news about the sport like any other die hard fan, which is how I found this forum in the first place! Another thing is that F1 isn't terribly interesting right now; JB and Brawn winning everything in sight and that doesn't look likely to change soon; I got into F1 because of the exciting wheel to wheel racing but often races these days are nothing more than a parade of fast cars for the most part. I'm not as die hard as I used to be; that's for sure but I have more than a casual interest still!

$80 is not bad - I pay $155, but have all kinds of premium channels.

I moved here because it was simpler for me to move being a single guy to move to the US especially as my now wife had a four year old already! I've only been here 7 months so far; dealing with immigration at the moment; that's great fun. And things were coming to a natural end with work and leases back in the UK, so it was logical for me to move!

As for watching GPs I will just have to drag myself out of bed to watch it, I would stay up and watch it but wifey tends to get a bit narky if I don't come to bed!

Lucky you; I wasn't eligible for the Green Card Lottery being a UK citizen when I checked before I moved here
