Presumably, it's gonna have to be quite a large budget initially to appease Ferrari and the others (but mainly Ferrari)
Good news on the 2-tier system though

As poor as it would have been for the teams, the logic behind the 2-tier system wasn't necessarily that bad, it's that they seemed to take it too far and gave the capped teams too much of an advantage. I was/am eager to see what the capped teams could/can do with the additional freedom.

I'll be interested to see what comes out of the other end of this little dog & pony show. How many of these teams that have put in for 2010 did so based on the assumption that they would a) be able to compete for $60MM USD and b) have additional competitive considerations beyond the teams who would not be capped?

If 2-tiered is truly scrapped, the upped budget cap will like end up high enough that it will discourage the teams looking to come in and create competitive team on a tight budget.

As for why FOTA was against the cap, there are inevitably going to be problems of compliance and enforcement. There will be enough gray area in the financial picture that it will make this year's diffuser debacle look cut & dry.

This is good news, I think a much increased budget cap will be agreed on after this Ferrari jazz is sorted out on Tuesday.

What I saw was a public relations ploy on behalf of Max for the FIA's position on budget caps. His arrogance and complete disregard of FOTA proposals got us to this point now. Max almost comes across as the aggrieved party in BBC interview and any good points he makes will be DOA.

absolutely, that is exactly what i have in mind....

doing all of the above and trying to cut costs is like an oxymoron in itself, isnt it?

it'd made more possible for cost cutting if the regulations have remained pretty much the same as 2007-2008 (ie: car spec wise).
