my point is... yes, he won in 05 and 06, but he did NOT win in 05 because he was the best driver, he won because the ferrari was a crap car, and the mclaren kept breaking down. simple as that..

Excuse me all!
Hamilton was told by the team, in qualifying, to let Alonso pass, but he did nothing about it, that's why later on they went to the pits together, so McLaren then focused on Alonso and they told him to wait because there were some traffic out there and Hamilton was behind (his fault!).
They would never have arrived to the pits together if Hamilton had taken in consideration what McLaren told him to do.

is that clear?

cheers

Excuse me all!
But 4 cars in the track is not a traffic. Ten or twelve cars is a traffic!!!. What I saw is a cheating from Alonso(use to be my favorive driver but not more after this) againts Hamilton. WE whant a equal real competition on both drivers Not driver 1(Alonso) and driver 2(Hamilton). That time belongs to Michael Shumacher and Ferrari. Both drivers have great driving talents and all we whann to see those talents and not fixing reces. :?

Ahh but there were 5 cars in the pits therefore the Alonso was being held back for the optimum time to get back out on track at a different time to the rest of the cars..... ;)

Josem3 I agree totally with you. Last year he was my favourite driver but not now that he shows his true colouurs.
Cars on track- I believe 3 were in the pit lane and the 1 remaining was the other side of the track. Not quite a traffic jam which is why the stewards knew alonso was lying and punished him.

Should the FIA/Stewards get involved in inter-team strategies during qualifications? I believe NO.

Is there any rule that says EXACTLY when is traffic and when not? Five cars, six seven? MORE? How many, where is this rule ?

Dont imagine 'traffic' is defined in the rules but its generally taken to mean a lot of cars that might get in you way,not 1 or 2 cars.
Should the FIA stewards get involved in team strategies? no I agree but they have to police fair play whether its between different teams or players in the same team, thats different to interferring in strategies.

the FIA/stewards were not interfering with the strategy... the strategy was for FA to leave then the lollipop was raised, and if he'd done this, then both cars WOULD have crossed the line to complete one more quick lap. (FA delayed LH by 10 seconds, LH crossed the line 7 seconds after flag was raised)

the stewards penalise FA for DELIBERATELTY delaying another driver, they watched the video of the team waving alonso out while he sat there, and they listened to the radio, with the team telling him to move. he did not go!!!

they penalised fisichella for delaying yamamoto, who would not have inproved from last on grid, even if he had completed his lap, so how could they possibly NOT penalise FA for doing the same to LH considering they were the ONLY two drivers with any chance of pole.

I've thought about all this a great deal, and this is what I've come up with.

LH wasn't penalised because although he went against team orders, he didn't actually break any rules. He was well within his rights as a racing driver to want to be out in 1st place for the third round of qualifying, even if he was told not to.

FA however deliberately held back a direct competitor by 10 seconds, and that IS illegal. It makes no difference that it was his team-mate or that it was in the pits, it was a premeditated violation that probably cost LH pole position.
