all you ever do is turn s*** around! im sorry it doesnt work like that!

even Ferrari are against the new regulations the says something dont you think?

and Mercedes im sorry hasnt made an official statement yet as that will be through McLaren!

McLaren might not say anything for now but if Ferrari, Renault, Red Bull, Red Bull 2 and Toyota all actually quit like they say they are willing to then McLaren will certainly follow and no-one in the world will care about what will remain of F1

The teams are threatening the FIA with the only weapon they really have. I'm glad to finally see some F1 teams grow a pair. I'm amazed at Toyota!!! I didn't think they had any spine whatsoever so kudos to them. Revolt and civil unrest is healthy for democracy as it prevents a monopoly from settling in. As far as I can see, it could go either way, could be progress in F1 or could be a disaster. I'm just glad to see that the teams aren't willing to just bend over and take it.

This isn't a democracy. It's an autocracy. The teams needed to assault Max's entrenched position over time, weakening him for a final blow. Right now, he's an immovable object. The manufacturers have gone to ICBMs before they exhausted diplomacy, before they'd even deployed a handgun.

It does work like that bud, you can't enforce one rule for me and another for yourself.

You've done it again. I can't believe it. I spent an entire paragraph expalining to you how you were mis-representing my position, reiterating what my position is and asking you to pay attention to it before you argued again. And so what did you do? You continued under the same incorrect interpretation of my position. It beggars belief.

Norbert Haug is no fool. Mercedes want this sorted out amicably. The way it bloody should be.

Listen kid, Im sorry but youre assuming my position on the new rules has a basis on Ron Dennis' opinion and that you are wrong i do not care what you think.

fact of the matter is Max is being a prick about this he isnt open to negotiation and that is going to be his downfall! Go read an article on pitpass it might open your brawn clad eyes!

That is all a matter of opinion, as of course is my view that the teams have done the right thing. We shall see how things work out but as neither side is seriously interested in a fight to the death, I would view the position taken up by the manufacturers to be a sort of display of arms, laying their guns out for all to see just so Max knows what he's messing with. No one has started firing yet really.

Now I'm off to go and re-load my warfare-themed metaphor catapult.

I like what the teams have done i hate the management team of f1 about time the teams gave them a big up yours

the thing is the teams could easily create their own rules and people to govern them, they would intern reap all the TV money earned and distributed evenly taking out Bernies FOM who do what exactly? Also meaning their budgets wont have to be as big with all the profits coming back in!

this is not a bluff! sure they wont be in F1 but what ever you call the new series in spirit it will be F1!

The party's over, Quit-Threat Supporters:

It is time the teams let FOTA do its job. They have moved to aggression too quickly, weakening their position massively.

This is the biggest mistake Ferrari, Toyota, Red Bull and Renault could have made. Only Mercedes seems to have any common sense.

I find it amazing really that so many F1 fans are cheering the manufacturers on in their efforts to rip the sport apart. Absolutely incredible. They haven't even given FOTA a season, or even tried to depose Mosley in the election, and already they're declaring all out war? And there are people saying "Good work, keep it up?"!?

This is insane.

I don't see how the teams statements have weakened FOTA. The teams needed to come out as individuals before Luca meets Max this week as the FOTA repesentive because Max would of just told Luca that he was misrepresenting FOTA but he can't say that now because the teams have spoken out. I think it will of strengthened FOTA's position not weakened it even in that Mercedes statement it said they were against the two tier system which is more speaking out.

I think the teams need to take a step back and think. I am all for a break away series in the spirit of F1 but private need to be able to enter and compete cost-effectively. The manufacturers have massive budgets but teams like Williams continue to struggle because they can't spend their way out of trouble. Max is right on this (and believe me I never thought I would say that). F1 need to be a profitable enterprise like other sports.

Forget the fact that there is a recession, something is seriously wrong if teams cannot earn direct profit from competing in F1. Bernie needs to free up some of the TV money and give the teams a 75 - 25 split in their favour. Secondly a budget cap HAS to be introduced and the manufacturers just have to deal with it. They are used to the status quo with them on top and the little guys way behind. With the cap it means they have to be truly innovative and skillful to get the best out of their engines and
car set-ups. Now if Brawn GP can do it why can't Ferrari????

I completely agree with cost cutting and I don't even mind a budget cap even though it will be a farce with a million loopholes. But I don't like the idea of a two tier F1 and neither do any of the teams. As I have said many times the only way to get a capped F1 before 2012 without a two tier system is to negotiate with Ferrari because it is Ferrari who has the contractual rights to decide if it runs under a budget cap.

Since announcing their intention to quit Formula One if the controversial 2010 rules adopted by the FIA are maintained, Ferrari has been receiving generous public support for its position.

The Italian car manufacturer's Board of Directors confirmed their intentions on Tuesday, following which positive messages began to make their way to Ferrari President Luca di Montezemolo. The Italian wrote a note of thanks on the company's website.

"I want to thank you personally for the numerous messages of support we received from all over the world over the last hours on our website and via email," he began. "It is important to know that we can count on the support of our fans all over the world and that our fans completely share the motivations, which brought us to take such a decision."

"If we were forced to leave the Championship we were part of over the last 60 years of our history and where we set all the records in terms of victories, it is because they want to change the nature of its founding values," he continued, in a reference to the 'two-tier' system ands other items put in place for the 2010 season by the FIA's World Motor Sport Council.

Di Montezemolo assured that Ferrari will be seen elsewhere: "I have to say that our cars will race in other competitions, where – and I am absolutely convinced about that – they will find the enthusiasm and the passion of millions of fans, following us in every corner of the world."

"Racing is part of Ferrari's DNA and this is something that will never change," he concluded.

Two-tier F1 is something nobody wants. This issue will be a great way to sort out the governance of F1 as well as sort out the costs. Bernie and Max need to realise that this isn't a toy that they are running. This is an industry where some of the biggest companies in the world are directly involved. There cannot introduce major changes without any consultation of the teams.

Well old man, I wouldn't have bothered even mentioning the Ron Dennis thing, but you immediately decided my opinion was to do with Brawn. If you had read my posts properly, you could have figured that out. But you're too dense to have even figured it out now and have instead repeated it. Are you trying to look stupid? I have explained seeveral times what I think and why, but you refuse to take it onboard. You simply rant and rave about how I'm a kid and I'm a Brawn fan so I must base all my opinions on what they say.

You're a hypocrite, that's a fact. You call me out for questioning your motives by suggesting your fandom clouds your judgment, even though I only did so in response to you doing the same to me, but then yo have the gall to do exactly the same thing in the very same post.

Pitpass is in my bookmarks. I read it all the time. Frankly, I find it too be a bit too clouded with political sniping at times (Often inserting irrelevant and unwarranted digs at the British Government) but that's neither here nor there with this. They do not disagree with me. They seek compromise, discussion. Ferrari and the other rebellious manufacturers have gone too aggressive, too quickly and have played into Mosley's hands by splitting FOTA. If you don't understand why I think they've made a mistake by now, you're never going to.

But, since you've clearly not actually read any of it (Having now made at least 3 factual errors), that's hardly surprising.

OK gents lets not get into a heated arguement over something as simple as a difference of opinion. Hey bud now that your considered an 'old man' I guess I'm in the geriatric parade? :(:hehe:

The teams have to come out strong because according to Max, they only have 16 more days to get their entries in.
I don't think there will be a split, but 1 possibility swirling around my twisted mind is taht if the FOTA teams back out, CVC/FOM loses alot of their TV and possibly event money and is forced to sell/go bankrupt. FOTA could then swoop in and buy the commercial rights and run F1 themselves. :cloud9:
