i know some would blame Alonso and others Hamilton for the weekend problems, but i wondered why its any reason for the fia to get involved. could F1 live without the politics which have hampered the sport in recent years? i just want the sport, the drivers and teamwork.

I blame both drivers now that facts have become apparent, however, to answer your question, yes, in a way. There are millions of pounds at stake, be it on sponsorship money or whatever, so that tips the balance. However, when it comes to who should win championships I don't think they are required. Sadly, they have always been. Balestre was awful and Max Mosley, who ironically promised to be fair, is as bad if not worse.

If Alonso did it on purpose it was very unsporting of him, I think that is why the FIA got envolved

As long as there are old greedy men, then yes politics will be in F1.

I'd agree with you there. Wherever there is a lot of money, politics will inevitably be there too....

I dont't know if F1 has some chance to survive without the politics. Some tracks have been added only fo geo-political reasons, and some gp have been seen only by the camels. The system is already too much political.
