Of-course LH still has some F1 tricks to learn, but he is learning them, and bloody fast too! Even Damon Hill said there was noting that he could teach LH, thats quite a statement!

Are two excellent drivers, everyone of them with his own skills and style: but FA has more precious experience in F1, and could run even without LH as team mate. Can we honestly say the same about LH? :)
Of course, i don't mean that lewis must learn to drive. We all have seen he already can, and at the top level. :D I mean as a total role of a driver, with all the tasks of a team leader, the winter tests, developement, set up during the week end.. That's the only question i ask to myself: "As first driver of a team and with a rookie as team mate, the results of his team should be te same, now"? I apologize if what i say is not clear, but...my bad english...

I don't understand all the rubbish written here about how Alonso is teaching Hamilton things. Alonso is currently terrified of losing his championship crown. If Hamilton is learning, it's in spite of Alonso. If he continues to learn on the present learning curve, Alonso will be a spent force. Hamilton has walked into the highest level of his chosen sport, F1 motor racing, and made himself at home. When was the last time that an F1 driver, in his rookie season, lead the championship and ended up on the podium so consistently? Poor Alonso thought that he was the next Schumacher and Schumacher is probably grateful that he retired when he did.

Don't try to tell me that Hamilton should be grateful for the "expert guidance" of Alonso!

So let LH setup his own car... there'll be laughs everywhere in the paddock

I think that as a TEAM leader, Hamilton probably has more essential interpersonal skills than Alonso has displayed to this point. I'm sorry, but I can't agree that Alonso is blessed with any leadership skills. Ok, I might agree with you regarding Hamilton's off-season experience but his current performance suggests that this will be something that he adapts to with ease. If he doesn't perhaps Alonso can continue to justify his paycheck by doing it while the champion relaxes. :)

Hamilton didn't walked in F1, he was handpicked and choosen by RD as a young child to develope for this day. In my opinion, Alonso is more of a rookie at McLaren then Hamilton. Hamilton has been around the team since he was in his teens, absorbed all the knowledge RD/McLaren can give him, drove the McLaren car many times and has more time behind a McLaren then Alonso. Yet with all his training and teaching, LH still can't setup the car.

Doesn't seem to stop him winning.

PS Congrats to your man on attaining his second podium.

BMW, when did he first drive in a championship F1 event? Is this his rookie season? Is he leading the championship? How many podiums has he had out of how many races?

A resounding silence was the answer.

Honestly, i can tell that i've never seen a driver that begins so well in F1. With one exception: a man called ayrton who, on a Toleman, ran six second faster (per lap) than prost on McLaren, under the rain in montecarlo (because there is to consider too that one thing is to begin with a McLaren and another one is to begin with a Spyker). But that wasn't a driver, that was a legend. Of course, in a short time, LH will be complete by any point of view. He learns quickly, but that doesn't mean that he, now, has nothing more to learn by the others, (not only by FA). If LH thinks he has nothing more to learn, it means he's already finished. Everyone of us has always something to learn by someone else...do you agree with me?

I absolutely agree Internos. I don't, however, think that Alonso is a particularly generous teacher and, if all he can teach him is gamesmanship, I think Hamilton should continue to learn on his own. I don't recall saying that he thinks he has nothing to learn. In fact, I recall on several occasions recently when he has referred to the fact that he is still learning. Prost was not driving a 2007 McLaren and it is totally irrelevant to today, as you must agree. If the two times world champion is behind at this stage then it, inevitably and without question, attests to the quality of the man who is leading the championship. My problem is that there are those on this forum who, for one reason or another, deny Hamilton the kudos that is rightfully his.

Spot on mate. And the first person to say LH has a lot more to learn is LH himself!

Of course. I used Senna vs. Prost as an example of the old F1, without traction control, launch control, with the gears far from the wheel and much more... I too think that FA is giving to LH just what the team pretends he gives, nothing else. But this little bit has been important, so far. Is quite normal that a driver with so many years of XPerience is more used to find quicker the setup, to talk with the engineers about a specific technical problem.... But is not a matter of skills, is a matter of time and to be used to, and in his case, will be a very very short time, this is my opinion.
