Woo! So, the 1997 mod is out!

But I can't play it, the installer only being compatible with 32-bit Windows. :(

And I've got a virus on my main computer right now meaning I can't boot Vista, at least I think it's a virus, I checked my Vista registry using the regedit command with the Vista repair disk and even if I change the "Shell" back to explorer.exe it still keeps changing it to "cmd.exe /k start cmd.exe" or something like that.

Denthul, have you heard of this before? Or do you know of any good ways to delete any viruses? I've tried running Antivirus Recovery disks but they are either horribly slow to the point I don't think they're working, too hard to use or they don't even bother to attempt to combat viruses and instead just renames them!

Downloaded it again and it works fine

The most realistic engine sounds I've heard from a mod so far. And it's fun to drive, too. :D

Those engine noises are impressive from the onboard vids I've seen on Youtube, how are the external sounds?

Now I'm back online I can finally download this mod and make Damon's Arrows look like the ultimate car for him to defend his title, just like the good old days of F1 World Grand Prix on the N64. :D

The external sounds are pretty good, too, although at times they can sound a little harsh (maybe V10s and V8s back then actually sounded like that). Is your computer sorted, then? :)

Yes I had to reformat my computer but luckily I got somebody to back up all my important files first before I reformatted and I was able to transfer them back easy. I've ditched AVG Free edition now and I'm using one of my dad's 3 McAfee licences. Now I can get back to releasing V1.2 of my Silverstone track as well. :)

Ah, right. Well, it's always a shame to have to start again, but at least you've kept all of your stuff. :)

Something I've come to realise about this latest mod is that the default setup is good but bad. It's easy enough to drive, but for some reason the gear ratios are ridiculous. Your top speed is limited to around 260KpH with the basic setup and you run maximum aero.

Edit: Also, the cockpit camera on the Williams is set too low and the T-cam looks like it's mounted in the seat :P

Ahh, rfactor. How'd I miss this thread.

BTW, Bud I hear you can get a PS3 controller to work on the PC. There's software out there somewhere, but I've never tried it.

Anyways, I got a new laptop earlier this year and I got rfactor a few weeks ago. I've been addicted to say the least. rfactor is simply the most fun I've ever had playing an F1 game. I've got a ridiculous amount of tracks and cars now :D rfactor takes up 10GB of space for me now. I have to say, favourite tracks are Suzuka, Spa and Laguna Seca. Although Laguna Seca is mighty pain to overtake around, without punting someone off.

One thing though, there doesn't seem to be a decent version of Monaco (newest layout) around. I have two versions which are great, but the AI are so poor around them it's embarrassing. They're constantly crashing every lap or so.

The v1.1 version of the F1 1997 mod has the cars going too fast now with the default setup!

I'm due to release the latest update of my Silverstone track with some re-done pit garages.
