i'm currenly building a mild spec'd corsa track car

dont have much time to work on it, been building it for a year so far

I've been to a few, most recently at Donington, there were some bloody quick cars and then some crap ones - ie an untuned Ford Sierra - against 911 GT2's, M3 CSL's, a couple of Cup hatchbacks (Scirocco's and A3's, which were quicker than the aforementioned cars actually) and something pretty special, i don't know what it was but it looked like an LMP racer only a bit smaller. Then the predictable load of Caterhams and Lotuses!

track's days are NOT about racing, so it doesn't matter what car's your on track with at the same time, it's all about pushing are car, and having fun..

be it in a shitty sierra or a gt2 etc etc

Well, i was only watching so i didn't care about that, i just went to some nice cars get put through their paces.... £2-300 is a lot of money to take part!

and you can do them for a little as £100 for half days, so it's not that dear really

Ah, i misread your original post. Regardless, my point still stands - i personally wouldn't take my car round, all things considered. Maybe in a few years when i can afford to actually do one, and also get something quick enough for a proper thrill! Regular karting suffices for now.

Nice toy to play with. Definitely post your progress... Are you planning some body kits and paint job?
From the look of your engine bay photo... looks like you can fit a turbo there

I have an 97 Acura Integra that i wanted to tweak, but was never too good at saving the cash to do it, something always came up Now i just wont bother... although there's a LOT you can do to an Integra (without making it look too flashy), so im always tempted to start a 'project'.

Used to go karting a long time ago with my neighbour, he was very good and raced the local championships for like 6 yrs. But it was always too expensive for me. Real karting is lots of fun, despite you not going as fast, you're closer to the ground so the sense of speed is still nice; plus the whole driving technique is there... its also super cool how karts drift on sweeping turns

built for fun, not for looking good, tempted to cover in in matt black paint thought, not sure on that yet


as for a turbo - they do a turbo version of the c20xe(what i've got) called the C20LET, and is quite a common engine to fit in the corsa, but come's with lot bigger price tag.. £300 for my engine and box, closer to 1k for a let engine, on it's own, then 300ish just the 6speed box

rather go head, cam's and throttle bodies over a turbo, but thats still more £££
engine's 160ish standard, so in a sub 800kg car, it will be quick enough to have fun in, for now

Well you could use a proper race spec body kit for Areo like a front splitter and a rear diffuser and spoiler.

I've always wanted to do somthing like that i've even though of keeping my focus when i replace it within a year upgrading for racing.

i honestly don't know enough about cars though.

nothing really worth doing like that on a corsa, only thing to do would be full lengh flat floor, under car, for air flow

also, it's still gonna be a full road legal car, so can be used daily too, when needed

oops the racing seats, steering wheel and roll cage got me fooled there

But I didnt mean sreet tuner style glass fibre body kits stuff...... (I actually though you were fixing it up for the track)
For the streets, Im sure with a black paint and a matte black front spoiler, discrete side skirts and a small rear spoiler would make it look really nice and not too flashy.

As for the turbo, its probably more useful to upgrade some engine parts as you mention, rather than a powerhouse with less than appropriate drivetrain... but without a turbo then definitely get a free flow air filter, its a cheap several HP gain, and not really too loud. Only a nice little growl at high throttle.
