I'm all for a ban on refuelling, it'll give the drivers an extra challenge which will really make them earn their pennies by having to manage their pace, deciding when to push and when to hold back. You could see some real upsets in the closing laps if say the leader stops because he runs out of fuel. The best example of this is the 1985 San Marino GP.

 Or indeed Monaco '82! i wonder if we'd actually see a repeat of Mansell's pushing antics these days as well...?

I'm pretty sure that has been outlawed a while ago.

It has, damaged or stopped cars must pull to the side and be removed from the track.

In that crazy San Marino GP from 1985 Thierry Boutsen's Arrows stopped just short of the finish line and he managed to push his car across the line to claim a podium (which became 2nd after Prost's DQ). Imagine if that happened today... DQ no doubt. :P

it'd be interesting to see a driver driving on fumes on the last lap, and just a few car lengths before the checkered flag, the car runs out of fuel...
then as the driver desparatly pray for the car to roll up to the finish line to take the win, the runner-up comes and steals the win instead

Seen that happen before and it's actually very exciting to watch. It all comes down to managing your race strategy.

can you recall which race was it??
i agree that this will make the driver earn their every penny in terms of conserving tires/ fuel VS. dash to the front

Getting rid of 16 pit crew members over the wall would help reduce costs and increase excitement. :coffee:

I think one of the easiest cost reducing measures is to have less of the giant corporate Ikea-style-flat-packed facilities that the likes of McLaren always bring to the race, just to keep their corporate men in £10 suits from Matalan happy.

hopefully they will allow low fuel runs in Q3 instead of race fuel loads.

Yeh but eitherway it will be pretty equal.

Perhaps Q3 teams will have do decide there and then before Q3 starts what fuel loads they'll run in the race whilst Q2 and Q1 teams can take as long as they like.

It would really make a nice change to decide the grid on outright qualifying pace and not on "how much fuel has he got?". But all the same I would still rather see refueling scrapped altogether.

i think they should scrap the 3 pt qualies, and just have 1hr long session like they used to, with all car's on fumes when out doing a lap..

much more intresting
