There are a lot of cars looking good for Monaco. McLaren are obviously one, having run well there a lot in the past, whilst Williams always go well there - maybe with a decent car they could get a podium. Red Bull Racing, however, will be my bet this time round. :)

Given Redbulls superior wet weather performance which i think is down to their mechanical grip, i would be putting my money on them to rack up a win in Monaco. Infact Mark Webber always goes well there i might go make a bet on him :D

Apparently Red Bulls ability in the wet is linked to a discovery with the 07 car in Japan apparently after the cars ran so well in the wet Red Bull took the cars back to the wind tunnel to find out why. When they did this they apparently discovered that the shape of the wet weather tyres interacted with the aerodynamics of certain parts of the car to give a a large increase in down force the discovery of this was a complete fluke and they have been designing the theory into their new cars. Well that's what Antony Davidson said on 5 live at Bahrain.

Spanish Grand Prix concerns
Swine flu implications in Barcelona

One solution to the swine flu crisis for Formula One would be to stage Grand Prix without spectators in the stands.

That is the claim of Motorsport Aktuell, after reports emerged this week that the Spanish region of Catalunya is recording the highest incidence of flu infections on the European continent.

The report quotes German health minister Ulla Schmidt as concurring that a potential pandemic, and public gatherings of thousands of people, do not mix.

"Everyone understands that there cannot be a major gathering of 70,000 people, if thousands of them could become infected," she said.

The Mexican death toll rose above 150 overnight, leading to the closure of schools, universities, museums, libraries, cinemas, theatres and churches.

A major football game at the Azteca stadium took place on Tuesday in front of deserted grandstands, after spectators were barred.

Mexico cancelled due to swine flu

By Matt Beer Wednesday, April 29th 2009, 08:00 GMT

The A1GP season will conclude at Brands Hatch this weekend after the series cancelled its Mexican round due to the swine flu crisis.

The championship had been due to end at Mexico City on May 24, but with the outbreak of the deadly virus having originated in Mexico, A1GP chairman Tony Teixeira said the UK Foreign Office had advised against making 'non-essential' journies to the country.

"To say we are disappointed to have to make this call is an understatement," said Teixeira. "When the news of the health problems broke last week we made sure we kept ourselves up to date with the latest information.

"It soon became obvious this was not an isolated health risk, and when the UK Foreign Office put out its advisory and the World Health Organisation raised the level of influenza pandemic alert, that was when we had to make our decision. We must have the safety of all members of the A1GP community as well as the thousands of loyal fans in Mexico City as our prime concern."

Teixeira said he was concerned that as the A1GP machinery was due to fly straight to Mexico from Brands, travel restrictions could have been imposed between the cars and the team personnel arriving.

"If we had flown our cars out and not been able to send the teams to run them it would have been a waste of time and money," he said.

The Mexico cancellation means that the A1GP season will end after just seven events.

The 2008/09 championship has been beset by calendar changes from the outset, starting when the planned Mugello season-opener had to be called off after a testing crash delayed the build of the new generation A1GP car. The same issue also meant a depleted field for what turned out to be the first round at Zandvoort in October last year.

A proposed street race in Jakarta, Indonesia was called off when it became clear that the track would not be ready, and a mid-season 'tba' date briefly earmarked for an Interlagos event was also removed from the calendar.

Mexico City had originally been scheduled for mid-March, but was postponed due to a clash with a concert at the venue.

Teixeira is confident that A1GP can withstand these setbacks and that the issues will not be repeated with next year's calendar.

"This cancellation does not impact on the future of the series and once Brands Hatch is over we shall be concentrating on season five, for which plans are already well advanced," he said.

The two Brands races will now decide the destiny of the fourth A1GP title. Team Switzerland is just two points ahead of Team Ireland going into the meeting, with the Portuguese squad a further four points adrift.

Spain have the 1st case of person to person of people that haven been to mexico transmission this could be a huge blow.

I don't see how stopping the Grand Prix is going to help with the Flu virus so I don't see why they would have any need to stop it.

well as its in Baca were the virus is it will stop people who potentially are carrying the virus spreading it. Considering the virus is a killing people in Mexico and the US now

Flu often kills the weak, young or old such as the case in the US an unfortunate fact of life. The fact is it's far far to late for containment the Flu will probably spread through the majority of the population just as it has done in the past we just have to hope the strain isn't particularly potent.

Things ive heard about this flu is that its not so virulent as it is in mexico. And that the susceptible group is the early twenties rather than the very old or the very young who are normally most at risk.
Not sure how reliabe that uinformation is.
