Christian Horner has dismissed speculation that Sebastian Vettel could be lost to the BMW Sauber team in less than two years.

The double Grand Prix winner is under contract to Red Bull for both this year and next, but is believed to retain links with BMW.

Vettel made his Formula One debut for BMW Sauber in 2007, leading to suggestions that the Swiss-based team may be able to recall the German once his current contract expires.

But Red Bull team boss Horner categorically denied that BMW retains an ‘option’ on Vettel's services.

"Definitely not," the Briton said in an interview with Sport Bild.
"They could have had him, they did have an option on Sebastian, the condition being that they give him a race cockpit for the 2008 season.

"In the middle of 2007 they let him go to the Red Bull family, to Toro Rosso, and they lost their rights to him," Horner explained.

I probably would have liked seeing him at BMW Sauber, but either way, it's ok :)

Well, I'm sure Vettel is quite happy at Red Bull right now. Winning 2 races so far. His year with STR really I think allowed him to mature and showcase what a talent he is. His year with Red Bull now, they're looking at a championship battle.

I'm sure he'd rather be at Red Bull right now :D

Glock thinking:- "OMG, I'm sitting next to Luke Skywalker" :hehe:

Oh well, Vettel straight to Ferrari then...

How old was Vettel, there?

I reckon that Vettel will be with Red Bull for a good while, if this is the case. There's no reason to believe that they'll just drop back to where they were in 2008 when the new season arrives, so they could be a championship-contending team for some time to come. And who better to deliver them potential championships?

Of course, as a BMW Sauber fan, this is a little bit of disappointing news... :P

Who is BMW kidding? Vettels been in the Redbull family a long time it was Redbull who let him drive for BMW, remember seeing his Redbull helmet in a BMW? Funny! I think as long as Redbull stay on form he will stay for a long time!

Oh well that's my theory that Vettel would go back to BMW out of the window.

He could still go there, although he might enjoy the Red Bull atmosphere more. They look like they know how to enjoy themselves, whilst knowing how to go racing at the same time, much like the old Jordan Grand Prix team. His personality definitely seems to fit in better with that environment.

Not from within your own team. I have never seen drivers happy in a team when their team mates and them are head to head racing for the championship. The result is they usually cost each other the championship.

Easily makes for the best viewing for the fans though. :hehe:
