I wouldn't know - I've never had the chance to tag the barrier at Monaco because I'm usually in the side of another car. That is one circuit I can not get my head around :P

I've won it (Got 100% Win record in my last season of Career), but I don't like driving there much in F1 06. No matter what I do with the setup, the understeer and poor traction is always there so I wind up clipping walls left and right. I won that race with both my wings in the Red.

I'd like to see a career mode kind of like Super Monaco GP's... and the ability to do this. :D

Blimey those are quick early 90s F1 cars!

Monaco lost me the world championship. My best performance there was fifth in the first season of my career, in the Super Aguri. That was a difficult race, but I did have to drive the last stint without a front wing in order to maintain the position. Since then, I've only ever scored DNFs. :hehe:

But yeah. If I'd finished in the points at Monaco in the last season I did, I'd have been champion. Although I guess I could have done better in Malaysia - wet weather driving is not my strong-point at all. :/

I was getting bored by S5, I'd won all the titles so far (That game is ridiculously easy on all settings, I think the PSP one must be easier by far than the PS2/3 versions, cos I didn't find it hard at all...Painful though). So I was like "Right, no more effing around, time to win 'em all". Took some doing what with bad luck and so on, but I got it done.

Really wish I'd stayed in the Honda. I won 2 Titles at the wheel of a Honda (And I was driving one at the end of S1). But for S4 I was poached by Renault - and naturally, won them two titles.

I've only ever done a couple of seasons. I have to admit, my first season with Super Aguri was the most fun. Finishing in the points in Bahrain, Australia, San Marino, Monaco, Hungary and Suzuka in such a horrible car felt like far more of an achievement than winning races in cars like the Williams and Toyota. They were some pretty good results, to be honest - making the most of a one-stop strategy is quite difficult! Dealing with completely-worn tyres in this game is challenging.

Results for that season (yes, I wrote them down because I'm sad) in full:

Bahrain: 8th
Malaysia: DNF (Wet)
Australia: 8th
San Marino: 6th
Europe: 16th
Spain: 19th
Monaco: 5th
Britain: DNF (Wet)
Canada: 11th
USA: 14th
France: 9th*
Germany: 15th
Hungary: 7th
Turkey: DNF
Italy: 9th
China: 11th**
Japan: 4th (Wet)
Brazil: 17th

Total points: 16

So, all-in-all, not so bad for Hard mode. I imagine the PSP version must be easier, 'cause on the PS2 the AI are pretty quick. They do, however, lack a decent amount of aggression and for the first lap it's easy to pass several cars (I usually made up four to six places on the starts, which was usually the reason I ended up in the points).

* Would have finished 7th but for a last-lap accident. Tried to brake late enough to pass Fisichella for another position but clouted the back of his car, lost the front wing and struggled for the rest of the lap with massive oversteer, ending up off-track several times.

** Would've finished 8th but for a stupid mistake that I can blame nobody other than myself for. I just forgot to brake in to turn one with ten laps to go and could not recover over the remaining laps.

Yeah, I know I found the PS3 Version harder when I played that, so I assume they made it a touch easier on PSP for the sake of playability.

The first lap aggression problem is present on the PSP too. I can move from P20 to P4 by the third turn - in bloody anything.

i owned a PSP once waste of time! but in those wasted minutes of mine i played the F1 game and it was even a larger waste of time! the car has no presence it feels like its floating on the track. and you wouldnt like the AI denthul :hehe:

This is on F1 06 on the PS2, with a Super Aguri on the hard difficulty career mode right?

I ought to point out that the result in Japan was entirely down to a glitchy first lap (hooray, more bugs!) during which all the cars travelled through the first turn at an impossibly slow speed. I'd used RCE for the practice sessions because I can never find a good setup for Suzuka on my own. I passed about four cars in the run to the first corner, then eight through the first corner. Had I not done that, I imagine I'd have been somewhere around 8th-10th. :/

Was gonna say, i find Suzuka RIDICULOUSLY hard to do well on! Unlike Canada, Hungary and Brazil... the Super Aguri such a piece of crap though, some of those results are very good. I've managed 3rd at Hungary and 5th at Canada in an STR, they're about my best results i can remember in the 'really crap' cars.
#114035
I agree about Suzuka. In previous F1 Games I've had a blast with it. It's always challenging, but very do-able. In F1 06, I just can't seem to get the car to behave in a predictable way around there. It seems to change characteristics every lap!

Aye. It's weird, because I'm alright around Suzuka on other games (although not as good as at Spa, but that's mostly because I've done so many laps around there!). Actually tempted to go and do a race now...

I was spurred on by this thread too... from STR to Ferrari tester to Ferrari race seat in about 7 races! :P

Some of the tests you have to do are nigh-on impossible too. Getting around Silverstone in 1:18 something without being able to do the setup?!?

The main sucky thing about F106 (game and season too i guess!) is the lack of Spa.

:yes::yes::yes::yes::yes:

It's so annoying that you can't set the car up, the default they give comes with bundles of understeer. I'm odd and prefer a hint of oversteer if I can't have balance, so it really irritates me. I also find some of the settings they send you out on in RCE completely undrivable
#115927
So, whilst we're on the subject of F1 06, anybody got a setup they can share for Barcelona? I can't seem to find the one I used to use. I can get pretty close, but need to drop a few tenths in the first and second sectors. I used to write these things down, but... :P
