So if Donnington goes down, Bernie is going to throw the baby out with the bathwater then. That would be madness not to have a British G.P

Bernie never even wanted the baby. Bathwater was a smoke screen.

Well, it's not as if BE dropped a bag of RU-486 on Donington now is it? It's Donington that screws themselves, thus no viable pregnancy it seems...

Bernie knew the Donnington pregnancy wasnt viable...gestation time too short!

I think other organizers have done it in shorter time.

Not in 21st Century United Kingdom.

Easier said than done here. No government money, congested road system, British planners, and in the case of Donnington a busy airport next door.

Building anything in Britain is a nightmare. Planning laws and short-sighted conservatism on the part of local councils have sounded the death knell for some fantastic projects in the UK. So many British architects have to move abroad to get their work recognised as so little innovation is permitted in British projects

Haha Tex you rascal!

Well Norman Foster in particular has much more joy getting contracts overseas. The projects in the UK often get built in the end but in a somewhat neutered state. I'll be interested to see if the aquatics center for the 2012 Olympics ends up looking anything like the current proposal. The debacle that turned out to be the Cardiff Bay 'Armadillo' was a disgrace.

You're surely not arguing that that...thing is great architecture?

Indeed. This, on the other hand, is great architecture:

Edit: Whilst I'm in here, does anybody have any links to something showing the modifications they're carrying out at Donington?

Do you mean the blueprints to Donington or pictures of what they've already carried out?

Erm...
