I agree that Renault will improve, but if the press are to be believed in this one, Alonso could go in 2010. :(

This leaves the team in a very bad situation. I realise doubts over its future are still ongoing, but these would be heightened if a replacement for Alonso couldn't be found.

As 07 showed, Renault struggled with Kovalainen as a rookie and Fisi... as... well... Fisi. I realise the team had alot of problems with the Bridgestone tyre and had had their resources drained after their 2006 title fight.

The thing is if Renault do end up pulling out, I believe the Enstone team will be able to carry on, again like Williams with a Cosworth Engine etc. However lets not think like that just now.

Personally I'm not so sure about Grojean, I think if he does get the seat (which he will) he needs an established star in the team. I thought about the likes of Rosberg (but he's surely lined up for Mclaren unless he stays with Williams?)

Bar that Im really not sure, I don't want Trulli for instance, maybe Raikkonen would make the swap ;)? Doubt it though, he'll be off a good old drink.

I think Alonso is in the same situation as last year. Ferrari would love him to drive for them but with Massa & Kimi Ferrari are happy with their current driver line up.

There is no point Alonso leaving Renault if he cant get a Ferrari drive so he is staying put. Personally Renault should try get Nico, he is not happy at Williams and Renault would be a step in the right direction for him. I dont see McLaren changing their driver line up anytime soon.

But do i worry about Alonso leaving Renault for something else next year? Of course, its always a topic of discussion. I wish it would go away!

At the present moment i'm not sure Rosberg moving to Renault would be a good move, simply because Renault aren't exactly further forward than Williams.

Its inevitable that Alonso will leave for the Scuderia, i've resigned myself to that. Sigh.:(

Will you then become a Ferrari-Alonson fan or support whoever's at renault?

Well I am a fan of Alonso, but let me make myself clear.
When he left to go to Mclaren in 2007, I remained a supporter of Renault. I still liked Alonso and remained a fan of his, but not of Mclaren. So I will remain a supporter of Alonso when he goes to Ferrari, but that doesn't mean i'm going to support Ferrari.

I wonder if Renault will survive after this season?
ING is pulling out, Flavio is retiring (soon), Alonso is (probably) going to Ferrari or another team since sticking around in Renault isn't going to be much fun.
What will become of Renault?

I would believe Renault will stay in F1 for a good while longer, Flavio has been talking about leaving F1 since 2006 but alas it's 2009 and he is still here.

Like any world champion Alonso will leave Renault if they cant produce a winning car for him. He is with Renault till the end of 2010 anyway.

And ING leaving Renault & F1 in general is no big surprise since they are a bank, RBS are also leaving Williams at the end of this season aswell. I think i read somewhere that Flavio was already in discussion with several indian companies for a major sponsorship deal with Renault.

Expect a very different looking Renault next season. :D

Flavio can be annoying at times, but I can't imagine Renault without Flavio. I think many of us have been focusing on his recent rants & whine and forgot how he turned Renault into a "Cinderella story come true" when they were in reign. Having beaten Ferrari for 1 year might have been lucky, but to do that for 2 consecutive years, it definitely wasn't easy.

As much as I hate to admit, I am not very confident of the team for the rest of the season. I have this nagging feeling that Renault might be at the back of the pack for this season and Alonso will continue to struggle with garbage car. I really hope my feeling is wrong.

I think Alonso is in the same situation as last year. Ferrari would love him to drive for them but with Massa & Kimi Ferrari are happy with their current driver line up.

I am thinking otherwise: Ferrari can't wait to pull Alonso in for 2010 despite his contract with Renault.
A new driver next season would be able to inject fresh ideas into the team. With Alonso, there is a possibility of having a repeat of "MS/Ferrari" ruling, except that it will be "FA/Ferrari".
Although I rather Renault can improve the car for Euro season and repeat "FA/Renault" dominance.

At the present moment i'm not sure Rosberg moving to Renault would be a good move, simply because Renault aren't exactly further forward than Williams.

Me too. I am happy enough as long as he can be given a champion car, or at least a decent car. :D

Is it just me or, Renault seems to be "left out" recently? Somehow I feel that Renault is being 'hidden' in the shadow since it is slapped in the middle of the pack right now. Like nobody is bothered about them. :S

You cant be sure Ferrari want him. Plenty other talent around. And they need to go faster or he will tantrum. :hehe:

He wasn't exactly cool as a cucumber with McLaren. Alonso just tends to be short tempered.

Alonso is bound to go to Ferrari eventually. There's so much talk about it, it's hard not to see it happening. Not next year, but 2011 I can definitely see Alonso in a Ferrari. What about Renault, it's a curious case. There doesn't seem to be much experience left in the field when you think about it. Webber, Truili, Heidfeld, Jenson. Can you see any of them switching teams.

I'm adamant Grosjean will be at Renault next year, if not this year. So if we see Renault without Alonso in 2011 who could they draft in. Di Grassi maybe.

To be fair i think Alonso was annoyed by Lewis he wouldn't be annoyed by a poor car possibly just disapointed.

If Ferrari were a top team i would agree with you cap but since there off the pace i think it will cause him to consider his options more.

Surely Flavio has Senna on his mind aswell.

Just in terms of if Alonso leaves, you know. Senna & Grosjean would be an interesting driver line up.

Alonso truely hated Lewis' pace thats true, but remember the year before, he was not impressed with Renault and said they werent helping him win the championship.First hint of a dummy spit even without a fast team mate.
