Williams are suffering for the loss of a development driver since Brawn (Nee Honda) poached Wurz.

But how would Wurz be of any help with a testing ban?

Certainly he'd be less help. But he could've done the odd test at the start of the year, just like McLaren let De La Rosa do. As well as that, he could act as a sort of advisor role behind the scenes. Some help is better than none.

yeah but as 7up has said in this thread they started off at the front and now have gone backwards. so Winter testing was not a problem.

and i remember last season when McLaren started off awesome then went backwards abit and everyone was saying it was due to lack of experience the same old story its the drivers fault. seems its the same story for Williams. but could it actually be the guys building the car who have made a mistake for once?

i'd say its 50/50 that car should be higher than Nico and Most definitly Kaz is putting it.

Absolutely, the above piccie is at the 1985 British Grand Prix. With an average speed of 258.983km/h (160.92mph) it stood as the fastest single lap in F1 history for 16 years, up until 2001.

Another point at least, is that Williams have this flywheel system coming. Perhaps their focus is purely on that system, and that's why the cars behind have caught up.

Ferrari were close to Williams anyway if you look at Melbourne. It could just be that the diffusers on both the McLaren and the Renault are bringing big gains. This could simply be a glitch for Williams or the result of the other cars developing very quickly.

Not sure what's going on with Williams personally I'm of the opinion that they are not getting the cars setup right and that the drivers are not getting 100% out of them.

williams flattered to deceive yet again ... it can't be that they have got their setups wrong for 4 consecutive races ... the car looks fine in free practice .. its only in qualifying and racing that the car appears like a pile of bricks

What has gone wrong with the FW31?? A couple of weeks ago it was leading very comfortably in Malaysia and in terms of pace only second to the Brawn and pretty much on par with Toyota but now they've dropped behind Red Bull, McLaren, Ferrari and even Renault by the looks of it!!

How can this happen in the space of two races? You'd almost thing somebody's sabotaged the car! I suppose Ferrari, McLaren and Renault have just thrown money and upgrades at the cars non-stop, but I remember a certain N.Rosberg saying "we'll still be miles clear because we'll have lots of upgrades too" or similar words to that effect. Well Williams haven't exactly stood still, Nico's car this weekend was running with Red Bull style rear-wing endplates, so what exactly have McLaren, Ferrari, Red Bull and Renault done that Williams haven't?

Nakajima is SEVERELY holding the team back, the only thing he contributes to Williams is the free Toyota engines and that's the only reason they keep hold of him. The way Nico is driving right now is that he wants out and if he's going to leave, fine, go ahead but don't you even dare run your mouth like Webber did. The team needs a fresh start and an experienced head to develop the car. A lot of Williams fans I talk to want Montoya to come back!!

If Nico was to leave I would want Bruno Senna drafted in as his replacement. Bernie is prepared to pay money to anyone who gets Senna in and it would do nicely. The Toyota deal expires this year and the "cheaper" FIA spec Cosworths are introduced next year so we should be able to afford a decent, experienced driver. If Hulkenberg delivers the goods this year in GP2 I'm all for him being introduced.

I just have a bad feeling at this rate, the team with finish bottom of the Championship, Nico will leave, Nakajima will be kept on yet again AND given number 1 status with Hulkenberg being promoted even if he does sh!te in GP2 and then the plug gets pulled on the team, then I don't know what I'd do...

Max needs to put his whip down or at least use it to get these budget caps in place so we can stop the money-men spending their way to victory. If Williams' KERS device gets up and running soon AND works well, it'll be a great moral victory for designers against the money-men because Williams' KERS device has cost something like £2million to develop which is fiddling-small-change in comparison to the costs by say McLaren.

Senna and Hulkenberg are not exactly the experienced heads you're calling for...

I was going to mention Barrichello if Brawn doesn't keep him on for 2010 but it looks like I never got round to mentioning that, and have either Senna or Hulkenberg as his team-mate.

Or... if your favourite person decided to step on the treadmill...
