People need to rememeber this happened before with Brands Hatch and Octagon. Silverstone can step in, but Donington isn't Dead in the water.

Yet.

Exactly. And by being doom mongers, there isn't much hope for it is there? We need to be positive.

I find it hard to be positive about it when there's so much bad news, especially since I'd rather we just went to Silverstone, my favourite track in the world.

I've always thought Silverstone to be overrated, to be honest. It's a nice track, but it is by no means the best that Britain has to offer. I'd like to see Donington work out, but the ever-increasing amounts of bad news are making me feel that it won't happen. In which case, the British Grand Prix will be replaced by yet another track in the East.

There's more money for Ecclestone outside of Britain. Countries in the Middle East are falling over themselves to host races and prepared to pay completely over the odds. It's pretty clear Ecclestone wanted rid of the British Grand Prix, so gave Donington the nod. If a lot of us knew Donington being ready to hold the British Grand Prix was unlikely, Ecclestone sure as hell did. And, on the off chance Donington got things sorted, Ecclestone's consolation prize would not be too bad, as he'd have a decent circuit and a Grand Prix in a nation with plenty of marketing potential.

Yes but that's a bias view on things - and you'll agree with that youself. I like Silverstone just as much as anyone, but the bare facts are the British Grand Prix is MORE important.
Id be happy if we had it racing around the streets of Easterhouse in Glasgow ;) as long as there was still a British GP!

I'm not saying I'd rather have no British GP than Donington - considering how much of F1 is British, not having a British GP is lunacy. I'm just saying I sincerely doubt Donington will get it together, especially since Bernie is well known to want rid of Britain altogether.

Indeed, but the sad reality is Silverstone (although well able) won't be approached if Donington goes pear shaped.

Yeah, and that's why I'm so pessimistic about there being a Brit GP. If Donington does wind up not managing, there is no back up plan. Bernie is being his usual stubborn self.

Just need to hope Gillett and co can pull it out of no where.

How will our being positive help exactly? Are we going to collectively will or hope Donington to successfully have the circuit ready for the British Grand Prix?

Bernie's been waiting for this to happen so he can have the race ditched and replaced with a Baghdad street circuit or something ridiculous.

What will be the gimmick? They gotta have a gimmick now. Perhaps the drivers have to dodge mortar fire?
