Liuzzi hopeful of 2010 Force India cockpit
Reveals long term Force India contract

Tonio Liuzzi has admitted he is ‘very confident’ about returning to the F1 grid next year with Force India.

The 27-year-old Italian is currently the Silverstone-based team's test and reserve driver, and he recently returned to race action in the A1GP series.

"There are good chances for me to get back to racing in F1 with Force India," Liuzzi is quoted as telling Italy's Autosprint magazine.

"I have a contract until 2011, while Fisichella and Sutil's contracts expire at the end of the year," he added.

Liuzzi, who took pole position on his recent A1 debut in Portugal, has contested 39 Grand Prix for Red Bull's F1 teams.

Piquet in race to keep Renault seat
Senna lining up seat alongside Alonso?
23/04/09 09:42

Nelson Piquet has three more races to convince Renault boss Flavio Briatore that he deserves to stay in Formula One.

Citing team sources, the motorline.cc portal believes the 23-year-old Brazilian could then lose his race seat, with countryman and rookie Bruno Senna a possible replacement.

Briatore was unimpressed with Piquet's showing in the Chinese rain last weekend, adding: "I only want to judge his performance in a completely normal race."

Former Swiss driver and German-language commentator Marc Surer, however, is not sure 25-year-old Senna would be the ideal substitute.

"Perhaps if Piquet continues like he is, a driver exchange could be a topic, but at the moment I don't see anyone on the market who would really be better.”

"Senna is a beginner who would probably make just as many errors," Surer added.

Piquet outstayed his welcome half-way through last season. I don't agree that Senna would be just as incompetent. And, even if we do take that remark at face value, Senna would bring a lot of cash to Renault.

The guy says that. But there's no proof so say Senna will be inconsistent just because he's a rookie. Look at Buemi this year, and Senna finished ahead of Buemi in GP2. All the same, I'm betting on Grosjean to get that seat. Renault have been grooming him for the seat.

I really can't see Flavio taking to the idea of signing Senna so easily. He probably has Grosjean and Di Grassi higher on his priorities list.

He would, if Di Grassi was still contracted to Renault. As far as I know Di Grassi is looking elsewhere seeing as it's more likely he'll get a seat elsewhere.

But for a new team, Di Grassi is a driver they should all be fighting over. He's like Wurz in a sense. He may not be the fastest out there, but in terms of setting up a car and sorting it out, he's brilliant. He should be invaluable for a new team.

100% agreed!!! I think it would just be the name that is great, i find it wrong how they can make allot of merchandise money of the name but that is the world for you, even though Piquet SR is a awesome driver, in the past era of F1 that is. Same as Kiki and Ayrton!
