After watching the podium and the German national anthem played for Vettel, I was epecting the Austrian one for RedBull but they played the British one. Confused........ Look below from wikipedia.org first sentence regarding RedBull Racing.

Red Bull Racing is one of two Formula One teams owned by Austrian beverage company Red Bull (the other being Scuderia Toro Rosso). The team is based in Milton Keynes in the UK but is of Austrian nationality.[1] The team is managed by Christian Horner, boss of the Arden International GP2 Series team.

If the nationailty is Austrian why the Britiish anthem for the constructor?

And before anyone says this is off topic it isnt as I made the observation during the podium celebration of the Chinese Grand Prix.

I think its because they are based in Britain. When Toro Rosso won in Italy they played the italian national anthem.

But Toro Rosso are both an Italian team and based in Italy, so that makes sense. I, too, was waiting for the Austrian national anthem.

Its the same scenario with Red Bull though. They are a British team with Austrian owners.

I think the Redbull wiki article is dated. I think Rebull must of renewed their licence (FIA super licence) as British for 2009 and thus are now are British team. Where it is based is irrelvant. Renault is also base in the UK but is definitly French. Look at the wiki records for 2008 and prior and the Austrian flag resides along side the name RedBull. For 2009 the British flag resides next to it.

Maybe its just simply they didn't have the Austrian anthem to play. Remember Spa 1998 they didn't have the Irish one so they have to do with the British.

Yes I rememebr that. Although I thought the reason for that was the Jordan had a British racing licence.

I thought that must of been quite insulting to a lot of Irish people.

Just an observation I had made which indicates a change in FIA super licence nationality. If I had turned the TV off early and not seen the podium celebration I still wlould of thought RedBull Racing would be Austrian.
