Ah right - so by my reckoning, only the Brawns and Red Bulls have a new set to use tomorrow... everyone else will have to use a set that might already have had it!

Yeah I just watched the replay again and it looks like it was Webber and Heidfeld who blocked HK but I'm not sure if HK was on a hot lap so hopefully he wasn't and Webber will be ok.

something to do with a seal within the drive train i think they had the issue at the last 2 GP's as well

I can't see a podium without some of the cars in front retiring. Although Lewis has KERS, all of the cars in front of him are miles faster in race trim anyway. Realistically, he'll be fighting with Raikkonen, maybe Buemi, and Heidfeld. Maybe Kovalainen, too, 'cause he's fuelled longer. And if Alonso is running really light, he may drop down the order to where Lewis is, guess it depends on whether he can jump Vettel or not. If he gets out front, I would expect some pretty rapid laps in order to build up enough of a gap so that he can fight for positions four to six.

Alonso really needed pole with that much fuel. If he cant get ahead of Vettel into the first corner of within the first couple of laps he's screwed in terms of challenging for the win.

Don't think they are even thinking about a win. Points is the target, with a podium a great result.

No ones really brought up the weather, but it's certainly a possibility. Red Bull clearly have the best aero package out there and in the wet in Sepang they were mighty quick. Webber and Vettel are both rain experts. So if we see rain and no safety car tommorrow it means Red Bull could just stream away.

No ones really brought up the weather, but it's certainly a possibility. Red Bull clearly have the best aero package out there and in the wet in Sepang they were mighty quick. Webber and Vettel are both rain experts. So if we see rain and no safety car tommorrow it means Red Bull could just stream away.

Well, everyone from P1-5 is pretty handy in the wet, so it could get interesting if it rained.

So true, but that Aero is important in the wet. Something Renault haven't got much off. Red Bull have it in spades. Red Bull are at the front without KERS or a DD diffuser. They're pace is down to pure design. Through the fast high downforce turns 7 and 8 Red Bull are flying. Thus my hunch is, they'll be supreme in the wet. Newy really has done a number with this car.

Still, I don't doubt Alonso. Plus, Button and Barrichello have more fuel onboard tommorrow. Really, it's anyone's race.

If it rains i wouldnt put it past Hamilton to make a few surprises with the amount of fuel he has plus KERS he could get a massive jump into the first corner

They were talking about KERS on the BBC and apparently the expected gain from using KERS from a standing start is only going to be four metres here. Not entirely sure how they worked that out, but it's interesting to note and may explain why Renault decided not to run theirs.
