Yeah, and most of that success is down to McLaren having supported his career. When the ungrateful twerp wanted to leave, he should have been shown the door.

Joes Mourinho for the job.

I haven't been following Formula One for long, so i can't appreciate fully what he has done, but if I use three names I can start Senna, Hakkinen, and Hamilton...

Now I'm going to have a rant, please help me Racechick:

What is wrong with you people on this forum? You've immediately tied a link between the Hamiltons and Ron's departure. To go about blaming Lewis for Ron's departure is wrong! What evidence is there to show that Lewis hates Ron? If anything, their relationship is very close! Ron threw his support behind Hamilton, even when Alonso - Double-Current-World-Champion - was on the team. Lewis Hamilton then proved loyal to the team after Fernando left. We all saw Ron's discontent at Lewis' penalties. Does anyone have any evidence to say that Lewis directly states, he hates Ron Dennis. A man who he's known, and virtually became family with since he was eight years old?

All with the assistance of Ron Dennis. I actually see this move from Ron Dennis being bad for Lewis Hamilton. He is now missing his main form of support at McLaren. I don't think his team principals from now on will be so forgiving of his ego. In the past, the whole team may have hated him, but who cares, because the Man (Mr. Dennis) doesn't.

Now, if he does something wrong, the team won't be so forgiving. Hamilton will be prone to hostility at McLaren. Or perhaps, Ron is teaching Lewis a lesson to tame his ego.

As for Ron? We'll see his face in Formula One again...

Otherwise, Mr. Dennis, you have done wonders for this sport and I wish you all the best for whateveour endeavours you choose to pursue in future...

Hi Hammy08 I have been following F1 for a long time and I would add a few more names to your list.
Don't worry yourself about the Hammy haters, they crawl out of the woodwork every opportunity they can. They have various issues with hamilton (I have a list of at least 10 "issues" ). When they start I just pop them in their "issue" box and close the lid . Makes me feel better anyway. I can show you the list if you like
Remember they don't know Hamilton and are basing their opinions largely on the media. If you read things written by people who actually know him you get a different picture. But no worries, annoying though it is. I watch and support him because I think he is the most talented driver out there and I like to see him race. Its that simple.

He will be fine at McLaren, Ron wasn't the only one mentoring him and remember, they know him.

Sad indeed to see Ron go. Not completely sure we'll get the whole story of this saga but Ron was going anyway, he'd already handed over to Whitmarsh. A shame we won't see him around, as you say, he's done a huge amount for the sport. I strongly suspect he will be working behind the scnes to promote FOTA (this is important to him, it was he who suggested Luca to lead them and get Ferrari on board) Knowing his battles with Max, he will be far better placed to help this succeed if he is not seen as an active participant.
Politics politics, politics eh! Always at the root of everything!

Brings a smile to my face to hear Hamilton supporters sing like a fookin canary when their star comes under the wrath of the public. Words of "He's really a nice guy in real life" make me cackle my little socks off.

Even though we sit on the other side of the fence, the similarities between a Schumacher and a Hamilton Supporter are becoming more with each race...

Jump in Hammy Lovers, the water is warm...

[Hanwombat]

Its sad to see Ron Dennis going (completely)

Ron's an F1 classic. Him and Hakkinnen back in the day...Iconic.

He will be missed.

Back in the day.....

Bring back Mika

Very very true. Mind you I bet Ant Hamilton will make sure all new copies of Hamilton's latest autobiography does not mention the word Mclaren or the name Ron Dennis.

Why didn't Heikki get to run the new diffuser and front wing instead of Lewpoo?

[Frosty]

Is there any news on who is going to be replacing Ron and Ryan?

Martin Whitmarsh replaced Ron Dennis already...

I meant as chairman of McLaren not as team principal Richard Lapthorne is replacing him as chairman.

[McLaren Fan]

Why didn't Heikki get to run the new diffuser and front wing instead of Lewpoo?

Kovalainen used both. He started off with the old one, then used the new one a little later. The team wanted to compare and contrast the old and new parts etc.

He didn't run the diffuser, though, did he?

[Gilles 27]

i doubt he ran the diffuser, they would surely require two different chassis for that...

It's more of an add on really I've seen a couple of pictures of it and it really doesn't look like a proper double decker it's similar to their old one with a couple of bits added to the top and a little taken away around crash structure and they are calling it their interim diffuser. so I expect they don't need two chassis for it.

Yeah. I'd guess Kovalainen was using the interim diffuser too.

you know .. I dont get it... from what I see with brawn that damn diffuser not really that important... brawn has straightline speed over and above the fact that the extra lil downforce allows them a lil faster round corners and stuff... what is the big deal about the diffuser anyway ?? If ferrari comes out and say they cant compete coz they dont have the diffuser ( so-called trick diffuser ) then I personally thing they darn stupid. Its clear that mcheaters and ferrari's problems is elsewhere.
