Hello All
I am some what of a new F1 fan. I used to follow Juan Pablo Montoya back in the day. I haven't really found a team yet to really become a fan of. How did most of you become fans of the teams you now follow?? Did you follow because of the driver or the team?? I really like what I see from Jenson Button and what a story is playing out with Brawn and his quick success, but I also really like the young Nico Rosburg and the williams team.

I'm a newbie too. Well you can't count playing with Scalextric back in the 60's being into F1 can you? Although I do dabble in the odd F1 trip on my old Playstation from time to time.

Maybe to the annoyance of some of the more established members on here my interest in F1 has been aroused by Lewis Hamilton.

My good god Jaybuc. you've come to the right place. Welcome to the forum. I do suggest you follow BRAWNGP for now. looks like it s a safe bet. the rest of the teams that make up F1 appears to be far to troublesome. DONT even consider mclaren coz they have dumped this sport into so much controversy that we dont know whether we even want to support this sport or not.

Hopeyou have a nice stay

Welcome :)

I started watching back in 1998 and the first race I watched fully was the Belgian Grand Prix, where Damon Hill and Ralf Schumacher took Jordan Grand Prix's first win with a 1-2. From then on, I was hooked on the sport and followed that team and its drivers up until the end of 2004, when EJ sold the team to the Midland Group. I also followed Mika Hakkinen and Rubens Barrichello (still do, in the case of the latter). Nowadays, my drivers are Rubens and Nick Heidfeld, and my team is BMW Sauber, though I have a soft spot for both Williams and Toyota (particularly Nico and Timo - I guess I like German drivers). :)

So you follow drivers and not so much a team? Yeah Timo raced in the champ car series in the in states, I have watched him some. The brawn team is such a good story its hard to not cheer for them, but it also seems like the Williams team is a class act as well....

I would say I follow Alonso more than Renault, since come on, what is there to follow in Piquet? Anyway, welcome aboard.

Not really. I follow them both equally. I guess I felt a little lost when Jordan were sold, and I even missed the next season, but when BMW bought Sauber and started setting goals, I found a new team to like. Theissen's approach is one that I really like, setting goals and then achieving them one at a time, not trying to get ahead of himself. As for drivers, can you notice the trend? I only seem to follow the 'nice' ones :)

I guess you could always catch a few glimpses of his girlfriend on camera. Wouldn't that be worth the effort? :P

Yup, Kimi and JPM were on McLaren together for some time, they are together in the video game for PS3 as well as it's set in 2006.

I support Mclaren, always have since Mika's time there, tho what with all the issues going on at the team Im so what a little annoyed.
I also have a soft spot for BMW and Toyota.
