Seriously, good driver or not. If I was a team boss I would have second thoughts about signing Hamilton because of his father!

Anthony Hamilton should form his own team, 'Hamilton' where he can drive along side Lewis.... he'll purposely hit other drivers on the track to ensure his son wins

:banghead:

Or crash at 30mph

Seriously the guy is a Jerk

You can laugh, I harbour suspicions that Anthony will indeed form a new team for his son - though I expect him to do so with someone else's money.

Sound familiar?

I wonder what is REALLY behind RD's move to step down completely. The article makes some innuendo re. him talking to Ryan or LH or both between the two stewards' meetings. In the Haug thread we were discussing an interview in which it is mentioned that RD allegedly wanted the LH/Ryan to stick to their version and that that had caused the rift between the Hamiltons and RD (which Haug tried to bridge). So, it seems that evidence is mounting that RD had his fingers in this and thus, should indeed resign (despite everybody slagging AH). McLaren needs a new start with new people! I don't think Whitmarsh is the right person to bring about the change necessary to improve McLaren's culture and image - he's rather part of the problem. I would still advocate that Haug take over - he seems to be a good guy, experienced enough and less of an insider trapped in a McLaren rot.

Dennis to sever ties with McLaren?
15/04/2009
A report in the Daily Telegraph claims that Ron Dennis is to "cut ties with McLaren", claiming that the Englishman is to "step back completely from Formula One as the 'lie-gate' scandal engulfing the team drags on".

The exact nature of the "cut" isn't mentioned, but the newspaper claims that a statement will be issued on Thursday morning and that it is unlikely that Dennis will attend this weekend's Chinese Grand Prix.

This would appear to be the latest scene in a drama which has unfolded over the last few weeks, following events in the final laps of the Australian Grand Prix and all that has happened thereafter.

With McLaren now due to face an extraordinary meeting of the FIA's World Motor Sport Council later this month, all manner of rumours have been doing the rounds, from Lewis Hamilton jumping ship to another team, to Mercedes ending its partnership with the Woking outfit. That said, much of the speculation is utter rubbish with no basis in fact.

However, with McLaren looking set to face a severe penalty, its second in just a couple of seasons, not to mention the public embarrassment and questions as to the 'culture' of the team, there is widespread belief that radical changes must be made.

While Martin Whitmarsh, who has only been in charge of the F1 operation since March 1, is in the firing line ahead of the WMSC meeting, many believe that this latest scandal could go even higher within the organization. Furthermore, with a history of 'bad blood' between Dennis and (FIA President) Max Mosley, some might feel it best that the McLaren boss takes a further step back.

While McLaren is refusing to comment on the story, a source has confirmed to Pitpass that a press conference is to be held at the team's Woking HQ on Thursday morning.

In an additional twist, the Daily Telegraph claims that Hamilton is to be "shielded from the press" this weekend as the team prepares for the WMSC meeting.

pitpass article so its true McLaren are holding a press conference. so if Dennis is to sell off his 15%share who is it to? Mercedes? Haug as boss? i think this would save the team form draconian punishment from the WMSC if it was seen Mercedes taking over!

I didn't think RD would sell his shares based on these unconfirmed reports - why do you reckon?
And yes, either Mercedes or BE ( :P ) could be interested. Haug the boss

Geez, I just want to cheer for Lewis, see some close racing and have races decided on the track and not by lawyers or stewards-why do we have to deal with all this crap? As for RD stepping back even more, maybe he thinks there's a conspiracy against McLaren and has decided to expand the car business so he can say "F**K you Bernie and Max!!".

Former McLaren team principal Ron Dennis is expected to cut his ties with F1 on Thursday in order to focus on their automotive division.

The 61-year-old stepped down as world champion Lewis Hamilton's team boss on 1 March and handed over the F1 reins to Martin Whitmarsh.

And he is set to make an announcement to clarify his role within the company.

McLaren face governing body, the FIA, on 29 April charged with breaching the International Sporting Code.

The team were found guilty of misleading race stewards following the Australian Grand Prix, which led to Hamilton being disqualified from the race.

The world champion said he was ordered to give misleading evidence by sporting director Dave Ryan and made an emotional public apology for his actions in Malaysia.

McLaren said Ryan was solely responsible for guiding Hamilton in the stewards' meeting and he was subsequently sacked by the team.

Dennis was a visible presence on the pit wall in Melbourne but did not attend the rain-hit race in Malaysia.

He became team principal in 1981, having merged his Project Four racing company with Team McLaren Ltd to form McLaren Racing the previous year.

After announcing the end of his 28-year spell in charge in January, Dennis became chairman of the McLaren Group to focus on challenges in the company's motoring division.

"We are a very diverse organisation and we have a number of other projects ongoing, including the development of our road car," he said at the time.

"I still have huge passion for F1 and I want to be supportive of Martin's responsibilities, but that will come purely in the form of voicing an opinion."

The announcement on Thursday may mean Dennis will no longer play any part in influencing the race team.

One more try to keep the topic alive, NO I doubt Lewis will be leaving McLaren anytime soon. Put that in your pipe and smoke it :hehe: .

tex

I dont quite think anybody wishes that he leave. I been hoping that he proves me wrong but up till now lived up to my expectations of him. in his case the same slogan applies """ if you do right - no one remembers --- if you do wrong - no one forgets. """ and theres been so many wrongs ( maybe i should much wrongs - as its becoming uncountable.) anyway should he leave he will deprive me of seeing him messing up again and that (again) will be very selfish of him.. typical

Don't you worry about Lewis. You just go back to reliving the glory days when Schumacher showed everyone how it was done!

The day you tell me you jumping ship and rooting for brawn or ferrari I will go on a drinking spree. So it will be on your head if I die of alcohol poisoning!!

Im fine with Brawn! Really glad to see them doing well. My other favourite teams have been Jordan and Williams. Ferrari might be a step to far but I like them much better now Todt and Schumacher have gone.
