SpeedTV confirmed that Bernie wanted to double his asking price for the 2009 US GP to $30 million for one race (original $15mil) . Bernie was asked by SpeedTV that the 08 US GP attracted over 100,000 spectators vs. 70,000+ for the Silverstone GP (even with the LH frenzy) and it was a success. Bernie did nothing but tried to dance around the subject but he did confirmed that there will be no US GP in the immediate future. Ya no US GP in the immediate future until someone is willing to fork over $30million, 50% of ticket sales, and another $30million to resurface/or improve on an existing track, don't see that happening real soon. Its a big loss for US fans, maybe it will get better once Bernie's dead.

It's funny how just before the circus came to Indy he had a giant hard on for it.

DD is right. The US is by far a too big a market for F1 to loose. Bernie is just trying to show he still has power, so good on Indy for standing their ground.

For Formula One to be a true world championship, the USA has to feature. Furthermore, from an advertising and marketing point of view, it's very important.

I don't mean it like that. Where you race will have no real bearing on the results. It's just that in Formula One you are supposed to tour the major countries of the world, of which the USA is one, so it's silly to leave it out.

Silverstone is about to get scrapped, unless it can come up with the dough.

And remember that the 70,000 spectators at Silverstone were paying a LOT more for their tickets than the 100,000 US spectators. In pounds.
