If it were a double decker then i would expect it to look more like this the green second deck area using a lot more of the crash structure area. Their would also need to do a lot of work on the top of the diffuser.

That's such a great result, I'm so surprised and Happy that Ferrari didn't get their way. Now if we can get this stupid liegate hearing behind us, we can get on with what will hopefully be a great season. I like the fact that the underdogs have the advantage, and Ferrari and Mclaren have to play catch up, It's time for the Ferrari and Mclaren driver's to show us what they can do in underperforming cars, and how well they can help develop the cars with limited testing.

i wonder if Mclaren can just remove the the two bits on theirs and have a brawn style double layer diffuser?

You'd think that they'd have removed those bits already (ie raced like that in Aus and Malaysia) if that were the case.

Thinking about it, if that were the case then McLaren's double diffuser would be pretty crappy :hehe:

I just hear a huge great crash and wondered what it was - only to discover it was Ferrari chucking their dummy out of the pram.

At last some sanity. Now let's get on with some racing.

Ferrari, Ferrari, Ferrari. Why point the finger at Ferrari. Red Bull, Renault, BMW and even McLaren were just as much in on this as Ferrari. Either way Ferrari and co will put difusers in their cars.l Give it a couple more GPs and it will be Ferrari versus McLaren again like F1 should be. Brawn and the others can rot in the shiit hole after that happens. In the end we all know that the teams with the most money will win. F1 is all about Ferrari versus McLaren. That is where the fun is, the rivalry etc. The rest are just boring little suckers their to make the numbers.

I thank the good Lord for people like you. Saves me from having to take sleeping tablets at night.

Ferrari, Ferrari, Ferrari

maybe they can, but choose not to until they where legal, just in case they got banned from the first 2 races

Could be the reason why they were only attending the hearing and not participating against the diffuser teams.

The right result, hats off to Ross for getting his act together. Now its game on and catch-up for the other teams.

One argument, advanced by Adrian Newey and Flavio Briatore, is that the diffusers should be banned on safety grounds, the Brawn car in particular, because they make the cars too fast.

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: Because no one wants a fast F1 car!

That's somewhat hypocritical of Newey. The McLaren MP4-13 was a lot faster than the other cars of that year (at least at the start of the season). And the whole reason grooved tyres had been brought in was to slow cars down.

Everyone wants a faster F1 car, as long as it's not in the other team's garage....

Has anyone gone after the Ferrari Mirror support / barge boards yet? Or doesn't anyone care because they don't seem to make the Ferrari go any faster anyway.

and when are Ferrari going tom use them. Surely they have prepaired for this as well?

I've heard they will have to redesign the whole rear end including new gearbox casings and may not have one until Turkey may just be rumours though.

Sounds like Ferrari needs to get bi-diffuser curious, fast and furious!!!!

Officials of the Renault and McLaren teams on Wednesday insisted there will be no quick fix now that Brawn/Toyota/Williams-style rear diffusers have been declared legal by the FIA.

With the Court of Appeal hearing now over, and seven teams all but obliged to now follow the path of the 'diffuser three' clan, work at factories will be at fever pitch to make up for lost time.

It was previously reported that Renault, one of the diffuser appellants, was ready to use some sort of new diffuser design as soon as this weekend in China. But engineering boss Pat Symonds, referring to the Spanish Grand Prix next month, said: "It would be possible to have something done to our car by the first race in Europe."

To the Guardian newspaper, however, he warned that Renault's first 'double decker' diffuser version will not immediately close the gap.

"That could find us maybe three-tenths of a second.

But in order to find the other two or three tenths necessary to put us on a par with the three cars carrying what I believed to be an illegal diffuser will require a substantial reworking of the rear of the car."

"Ironically, the three would have had a much easier job converting the other way," added Symonds.

Norbert Haug, boss of Mercedes' racing activities, agrees. "What some did in nine months cannot be done by others in nine weeks," the German told Germany's SID news agency.

"Our sporting spirit tells us: 'it is time to get to work, we accept the challenge' but we are going to need some time," said Haug.
