I agree with you Hamilton ended up getting what he deserves for lying about the situation, When he was in 4th behind the safety car he deserved to be there for a great drive. When he was 3rd he deserved to be there because Trulli went off the track behind the Safety car. When he was 4th again for letting Trulli pass he deserved to be there due to Mclaren's interpretation of the rules. When he was disqulified for lying to the stewards, He deserved that too.

Very true

Yep.

BUT the FIA needs to look into that and fix it.

there being a more direct way to question thing like that incdent and spa.

i mean if the stewards are more like ref's able to be spoken to and make faster decisions then things like that and spa wouldn't have to happen.

Cheers mate. :drink: Spot on.

The only thing I would add is had McLaren and Hamilton just played it straight....there is no way they would have gotten in trouble for their actions on track. From the transcripts of the radio chatter between Lewis and his team, they were not attempting to cheat Trulli. It was only afterwards, when they saw what they stood to gain by lying...that temptation led them down the wrong path. Had they played it straight, they would have had 4th and rightfully 3rd in the bag with nobody able to complain about it. Trulli screwed up, he deserved to lose 3rd..and would have I believe. The stewards would have easily seen from the transcripts that Hamilton letting Trulli by was an honest mistake made while the team attempted to get an answer from Charlie.....ahhh, but that temptation bug...it's a tempting little bugger. Then, after several days they very easily could have corrected it as post race confusion brought on by the heat and dehydration of the grueling blah blah blah. Of course we let him by, it was an honest mistake....and then none of this would have happened. I have a feeling that the punishments are not yet complete....I think the FIA may well make another example of McLaren...and quite possibly Hamilton. When someone keeps lying, in the face of overwhelming proof (their own radio transmissions)....they really don't leave the governing body any room not to punish them for it.

I couldn't agree with you more. I can't see how they thought that lying was the way to go, It would seem if they went to the stewards and just said "yes we let Trulli through, race control was to busy to sort it out and we didn't want to be penalized." Their chances of getting third after telling the truth would probably have been equal to their chances of getting third for lying. Of course without the severe consequences they now face for their stupidity. What makes it worse I think, is they had an hour after the race before going to the stewards, definitely long enough to catch your breath and think straight.

I agree that they should of made a faster decision but in their defence there was a lot going on on track at the time. Things have to be prioritised.
Yellow flags?
safety cars?
making sure that everyone is keeping to the right speeed?
Making sure the Marshalls are aware of where the safety car is?
if there are any cars not yet on the end of the snake trying to play catch that are on track, where are they, are they gonna hit someone?
Making sure that RK is OK?
does he need to be seen to by the medical car?
What is SV doing?
can he drive on the track like that?
are there bit falling of his cars that the marshalls should be aware of to warn the drivers?
should we black flag SV?
where is the race leader has he caught up with the Safety car?
Are the pits closed?
when are they gonna open again?
ensuring that the people that are working on the track are safe and sound?

So someone squalbbling over 3rd and 4th that can be reviewed later is not very important.

Yeh i 100% agree mate, but live i've said

there needs to be two seperate teams

SAFTY

STEWARDING

teams should not be talking to whitmash re the rules because its obvious (from spa) he has no say.

there needs to be a seperate team to deal with that.

Who is 'whitmash'? If you're referring to McLaren's team boss (Whitmarsh), then why would teams talk to him???

I feel sorry for Charlie Whiting, his hands were full with the vetell/Kubica incident when this lot kicked off, otherwise I think none of this sorry mess would have got as far as it has gone.
