A mate of mine just bought a six series BMW last week and it drives like a dream.
I never even sat in one till last week but there meant to be based on the 5 series but is definately a better class machine they cost something like 53K brand new and seem a little pricey.

Has anyone else had experience with beemers and there opnion beteween the 3 and 5 series ?

Whats the thoughts on used 5 series cars over the next few months what with the recession.
Do you think the prices of used cars in particular the 5 series will fall further ?

I would not of thought so, the bigger engined cars have dropped a lot recently as no one can afford to fuel them any more. so I would not imagine them dropping any lower, unless fuel prices go up again.

Read somewhere about the government giving 2K towards a new car if the cars over a certain age Im not sure if the used prices for older cars will go up as some people will buy scrappers at auction to get a discount on buying new.

I like the 5 series though.
I was looking at the c class merc but the 5 series is best in its class

My friend has a pretty new 3 series and man they are amazing. Everything is smooth about the car. Handling is smooth, suspension is smooth, accelerating and braking are smooth. And there is absolutely no tire roll noise in the cabin. Very nice and luxurious car.

I have an older 330ci, 2001. It's Steel Gray with red interior. It has been fun to drive and dependable the last eight years. Although after the 4/50k service runs out, little things get expensive. Everything is $400 to fix. Over the past I have fixed myself a drive pulley for the serpantine belt, radiator hose and resevour, emblem and both front grills. The parts are relatively inexpensive, its just the service. I've always have changed the brake pad and painted the calipers, but I plan to go slotted rotors and get some stiffer poly urethane bushings.

135i is the best bimmer for handling... with a few suspension mods. If you show up at the track in anything bigger than a 3-series, you'll look like a douche bag. For street duties, I love a 645ci

My mate has just bought an X5. Looks nice but i would hate to think i was buying the tyres.
And while on the subject, i think the X3 looks cheap and nasty.

My dad had an M5 once upon a time. It was an absolute beast, to put it mildy.

I'd rather have a big engined 3 series over a small 5... ie rather a 330 than a 523 - they are pretty similar in price i think.

The X series cars are a bit of a joke in my eyes.

Looks wise i prefer older BMW's, but that V10 is stupidly powerful... Planning to go to the 'ring in the future and take a ride in the 'Nurburgring Taxi' which is one of those.

The tyres are very expensive and all the new 3 and 5 series have runflat tyres so the 6 series doesnt even carry a spare.
A mate tells me that BMW dont repair so you have to buy a brand new one.
Can these tyres not be repaired by some specialist at a fraction of the cost ?
