Yeah well that's what people say.... I don't believe that teams with the resources like that didn't put enough effort into the new car, just an excuse by the teams fans if you ask me.
Look, the fact is that when Alonso came to the team they were stuffed, the car was a pig. The reason they signed Alonso was for his all around skills. The car was then a championship contender. They stupidly backed Hamilton over a proven winner and PAID THE PRICE!!!!!!!
Sure Mclaren know how to build fast cars, but its a team effort and the drivers input is very important, look at the difference between Alonso and Piquet. McLaren now having backed the wrong driver are back where they started a few years ago, running around the midfield.
Sure they have the financial resources to come back but they are totally dis-functional at the moment. 20 years of proud history aside, they have made a series of absolutely horrible decisions in the last few years and are now paying the price. The last few years are not how they usually operate, you cant deny that.... caught cheating and lying, 100 million dollar fines, exclusion from championships, and now the latest blatant lying scandal.....wake up and smell the coffee !!!!!
McLaren like Ferrari were putting their efforts behind the 08 campaign and are now paying for it with their respective 09 cars pace. But we are only 2 races in there is allot of ground to be made up by both Ferrari and McLaren. they both have the resources available to make massive gains in a short time.
