I just wonder why all the teams don't have it.

Because they get in the way when you change the tyres and only Ferrari (and Renault) have found a way to do it.

I think they need an extra guy to take off the cover as well as the tyre and wheel guys, that's four extra guys (flights, food hotels, etc) as well as extra time in the pits if anything goes pear shaped.

Must be worth it...

As for them being movable aero, if they moved laterally, it might be classified as movable, but they spin and I don't think there's a rule (yet).

Anyway, if they were illegal, Mclaren would have protested. They have the data, after all

I thought the wheel nut and cover were done in one motion, I could be wrong.

I was really thinking of the rear cover. I think it was attached to the wheel and never had to come off because it had a large hole in the middle to allow the gun to get to the nut, so I don't see any difficulty in changing wheels with them on. I also don't think Ferrari would be the only team capable of figuring out how to manage it, if it does present a difficulty.

There was a special (second) gun for the front wheel covers to put on, thus an additional step. To remove the wheel and cover however, I seem to remember that it was done together with the wheel itself, thus in one single step.

Well spotted, except when Kimi clips barriers down in Monaco - then they only go straight on. I wish Ferrari had fitted spinners - that would be hilarious!

Nope that's not the same 'sideways' as, say the Mclaren front wing or the (banned) floor.

If the wheel covers moved away from or closer to the car in relation to the wheel, then they would be illegal.

the wheel covers arent exactly even, they have a section missing which acts as a duct. so to say its flat is incorrect as when the wheel turns the disc will give different properties to the aero

That's exactly the reason why the rear wheel covers were above suspicion and the teams avoided to put them on the front wheels as I stated in an earlier post. Ferrari must have gotten clarification on that and now put them on the front wheels as well, though it's a different design as you can see. So, maybe with that new design they found the loophole...?

that by having 1/6th of the disc missing it can be called a brake duct? well i suggest Ferrari get rid of the conventional brake duct thats on the inside of the front wheel.
