I think he jumped before he could be sacked!

What a diplomat! :)

@racechick

Alonso was put in a position at McLaren whereby his F1 career was going to be compromised by mismanagement and favoritism and so he left. I'm sure McLaren weren't too sad to see him go after the trouble he caused in attempting to get his way but McLaren have no one to blame but themselves for what happened

I heard LH will be leaving McLaren for a new team sponsored by Rogaine. He needs to get out of that McLaren pressure cooker or he will look like his dad by the end of the season.

You can think what you like, an idiot could tell you Alonso wanted out more and earlier than McLaren wanted rid of him.

Reminds me of someone...

Well if its up to mcLarenFan it will be called Lewisgate.

No, Anna, I just don't buy into fatuous sob stories. Hamilton hasn't taken his fair share of the blame.

Actually, you're remembering it wrong. Ron was sorry that their relationship had gotten to that point and said he would let Alonso leave if that's what Fernando wanted. Fernando badly wanted out, so took the option to quit.

He was not kicked out, he jumped.

The Mercedes board weren't happy with Alonso and wanted him fired. Okay, they are minority shareholders in McLaren, but their views carry a lot of gravitas.

None of which changes the fact he was not kicked out, he quite happily jumped.

He jumped (happily) before he was pushed.

Ham Boy is in danger of pulling a Jacques Villeneuve. Their F1 careers are quite similar so far, it would be quite funny if they mirrored each other

So long as Hamilton's career doesn't nosedive so long as he's at McLaren, I'd find it rather amusing.

i just remember when Hamilton arrived in 2007 and everyone went nuts about his amazing debut and I just thought, 'hang on, i remember another guy doing this, his name was Jacques and he kinda faded...' In all honesty, it would take some shocking luck for the same to happen to Ham Boy

Let's juuuust hope LH doesn't start to croon :P

How about a swap with Sutil for a year or two? Payed by McLaren on a strictly performance-based scale. If LH is such a great driver he could show it at the Mercedes junior team and take them to unheard of heights :hehe:
And AS could finally show what he's got and shine in a hopefully decent car
Two birds with one stone
