Still too early to tell I guess. But I did notice the Red Bulls scything through the field as the heavens opened up in Malaysia...it seemed obvious that they were operating on another level in terms of grip for a lap or two. Not sure if they were on a full wet at that stage compared to other teams on the inters.

Any other thoughts?

wasnt that mainly cos they were on inters? the right tyres?
Brawn still seemed to be very fast in the wet before the real downpour came.

It's tough to say given how changeable the rain levels were. It's worth noting that Jenson in the leading Brawn was the fastest man on the Wets, only slower than the cars on Inters at the time.

It's a bit tough to call, especially as Malaysia's rain was just stupifying. It would be better to judge if it threw it down again at Silverstone this year (which I hope not).

Agree the Red Bull looked like it was glued to the track in the wet.

The Red Bull looked better than the Brawn, actually. It may be a tyre-heating thing. Of course Button's pace would have been better - he was at the front, whereas Webber was cutting his way through the pack. I reckon, if they were both in clear air, they'd have been quite close.

On a serious note, the Red Bull has a lot of grip in the wet. Mark Webber proved that.
I think Vettel's mistake couldn't be helped by the rain at that stage.

Yeah. When guys like Vettel and Heidfeld are making those kind of mistakes, on full-wet tyres, it's obvious that the rain is too heavy to race in. Look at Nurburgring two years ago - most of the wet weather specialists went off and in the same place!

Regardless of tires, everybody was tip toeing around the track, even Hamilton and Vettal. The volume of rain increased so fast, no one could get a grip. With the race being called because of the rain and darkness, we'll never know who would've stepped up to win under those conditions. At least Hamilton got a point and Massa got nothing. It's on to China boys.

You're clearly not a sports fan, are you?

I'm not sure what that means, but I'm just as much an F1 fan as anybody else--within the sporting regulations of course. Plus, being a fifth generation American, and a crazy F1 fan, I feel quite alone here sometimes. Unfortunately, Americans could care less about F1--it's their loss. They don't know what their missing.
