So if he could have gotten by Vettel by the next turn then why try to go around a poorly handling car on the outside of a turn. It's racing 101, you don't pass a poorly handling car on the outside, it's to big of a gamble, especially as you agree he would have had him by the next turn anyway. He had set Vettel up perfectly, all Kubica had to do was let him through take the apex and leave Vettel behind under acceleration.

You misunderstand my point. I don't think he thought he was going round the outside, he basically had the inside line (Which is why they touched), which I believe he committed to because Vettel braked early leading Kubica to believe he was yielding.

That being said, Vettel braked supremely early, Kubica could easily have read that as him yielding.

Yep, when you see the onboard shot from Kubicas car you see Vettel drop back early but Vettel was off the racing line and wouldn't have as much grip to slow the car down. Kubica may well have seen it as Vettel yielding but should've still been aware of where he was. I don't think there should've been any penalty, are the stewards on commission?

I understand your point, My point is, it was a risky move that he shouldn't have taken in the first place. Vettel was breaking early because 1 his tires were losing traction and 2 he was on an inside line and would have to be going much slower to make the turn. Kubica knew that Vettel was in no position to make a proper turn so why rush the pass?

Yeah, I'd agree. My argument is they were both as at fault as eachother. I wouldn't have penalised either.

Though I would have given Vettel a 10-Place Grid Penalty at least for his antics on 3 wheels.

I agree with the penalty for driving around on three wheels ( Although it would have been funny to see him cross the finish line on three wheels) I don't agree with the penalty for the "Racing incident" and I think Kubica should have been more patient with the overtaking.

Ah, forgot about that. That was stupid and definitely deserved some action. Was he/the team really thinking he could do the remaining laps behind the safety car on 3 wheels?

We can only wonder. Frankly, I find the amount he did do to be reckless and beyond comprehension.

Kubica knew that Vettel was in no position to make a proper turn so why rush the pass?

Because BMW were probably telling Kubica "You can WIN, PASS VETTEL!!!" Theissen still believes that Kubica could've won the race.

I dunno, Jens had a cushion and had pace in reserve with only a few laps to go

I think so too. It would've been awesome seeing a late race charge.

I saw a short clip from an Interview with Brawn, he basically smiled and said "BMW only thinks they could have caught Button. If Button started to push they would have had no chance of catching him." I do believe it's Brawn who used to tell Schumacher to slow down when he was too far ahead. There's no extra points for lapping the field and no need to put extra stress on the car.

Thats true, im sure the Brawn had more than it was revealing but it would come down to the state of the tyres at that point in the race. Vettel's were shot.

Vettel was trying to catch Button and fend off Kubica, so of course he was going to wreck his tyres. But Button was simply cruising to the finish line. He could've pushed hard for three laps before the tyres went off and there would have been nothing that Kubica could have done about it after that.
