What do you think Ferrari's directors thought when they saw Kimi eating a Magnum popsicle, drinking a Coca-Cola and wearing shirt, short and flip-flop's while all other drivers were concerned about the race's re-start ?

I thought he was really anti-professional, like really careless about Ferrari's aims.
He's the iceman. Was is really all that surprising? At least he wasn't sitting on the pit barrier smoking a cigarette like rubens :hehe:

Rubinho smoking ??
I didn't see that...
I know quite of few drivers that don't actually smoke cigarettes, but smoke one after races. It does wonders for adrenaline withdrawals

KERS is the FIA's answer to making F1 more 'green'. It basically uses the energy expended in braking, stores it and then deploys it as an engine power boost which the driver operates himself. it can be used for 6 second each lap. It stands for Kinetic Energy Recovery System and most of the teams are using an electronic system whereby the heat energy generated by braking is stored as electricity in a battery. Williams plan to use a flywheel instead.

The technology was banned in F1 in 1999 (?) but the FIA has decided that F1 needs to pretend to be green and has now allowed it. BMW have put a lot of pressure on the FIA to push it through as a rule change as they want to use it on their road cars and it will save them having to develop the technology out of their own budget (in F1 it will come out of sponsorship money).

In doing so, the FIA has compromised its commitments to safety and cost cutting. The teams are spending upwards of £70 million on the systems as well as some teams talking of developing two cars to accommodate different circuits.
People have already received harmful electric shocks from the KERS and Kimi Raikkonen experienced a toxic cockpit fire from his KERS system. The track marshals are being forced to wear thick protective gloves and this compromises their ability to rescue a driver trapped in a car.

KERS also has no real green credentials as the technology is not road relevant in its current state and very few components are suitable for other applications. The electronic systems also result in large numbers of toxic, waste batteries that are simply thrown away after each race.

The performance gains of KERS equate to an extra 80-90 horsepower and mean a faster qualifying lap time of about 2 tenths as well as a big boost off the start line. However, the compromised weight distribution of cars running the system (the devices are massively heavy), means that the advantage is negligible. The top 4 teams at the moment are not running it...

Gilles, thanks for the insight in to the KERS system. So the top 4 team aren't running it at the moment, and this is largely the reason for their poor performance then I'm guessing?

McLaren and Ferrari are both runing it. Gilles27 meant the top 4 teams as they currently stand arent using it. Mclarens is working well-their problems are with aerodynamics. Ferrari are also running it but having problems.

To be honest I find Kimi's attitude a massive let down. Massa was out there waiting and wanted a new visor. That’s the racing spirit we need to keep us going. But Kimi don't give rats bottom unless he doesn't get paid $50 Million or less. It's such a sham to us, I hate the fact his attitude is slipping, and he doesn't really deserve a seat there any more. You all rate him highly thru past figures? Present figures show he has no racing spirit and is living of the 1 title he received? I think Massa is a true champion at heart and in the head. I just hope this or next year he receives something greater than the WDC :( he’s talent no doubt, but is not really ding much for us, he seems to be the one to want to clock out the fastest? On podium he'd win and want to go bed the quickest? I’m not sure what his problem is but he’s not doing much for me at the moment. I love the guy to bits but he seems to be letting down the Tifosi just a little.

Domenicali has already confirmed that they weren't going to send Raikkonen out again if the race was restarted because his KERS system was causing major problems. In that situation, I'd have gone for an ice cream, too. :D

come on now... you being too hrd on the guy. you would have done the same thing if you team including schumi for that matter decided to sabotage your race by giving you wets on a dry track. he should have returned to the pits and parked his car after completing the second lap and buggered up the guy he thought was responsible. I would have loved it if after that He opened a beer and told them to piss off !!

He could always do that afterwards, I'm sure it'd be entertaining seeing a Ferrari slipping and sliding all over the place anyways, if that's too dangerous, he could have stuck to his 2nd gear plan.

well I am suspending them until further notice..... other teams steal and lie and manpulate to get points. Ferrari decide to amuse the fans by proving that they have no flipping idea how to plan a race. next time they will send massa out with a set of paddles and survival gear - maybe expecting a snowstorm.
at the moment they suck !!!!

After Ferrari had made a mistake with this tire strategy and ended whatever hopes he may have had for the race, after the KERS failed. After the FIA decided to go with the twilight race despite EVERYONE knowing it would create the very scenario that occured.... i think Kimi was extremely professional. Good thing he is the Iceman, bnecause that was the perfect time to do what Alonso did with that door last yr.

I think he was thinking "The circuit is a river with like 40 minute to go and it's still raining hard, my car is basically busted and we're slow as crap anyway...Sod it."

The Scuderia is doing poorly and Kimi is his own man. He's not gonna sit in a half-functional car, waiting for a re-start he knew wasn't likely to come.

I want to hear the radio transmissions, I reckon the team must've told him there was only 1 magnum left in the fridge.

Other than that I totally agree Jensonb and don't see why he's getting a hard time from anyone here.
