I guess he has become more focused and determined. I was watching a Monk episode and when his shrink decided to retire, Monk went through the classical steps of denial, anger and acceptance. I guess that's what happened to Alonso. He's done with his denial and anger and realized that he has to do something about it. I liked his strategy at Silverstone. His mistake was that he went on the hard compounds after the second pit stop. I believe that had he used the softer ones, he would have been able to reduce the gap between him and Kimi and would have been ahead of Kimi when the latter exited from the pits after his second stop.
Don't forget that he was some 30-40 seconds ahead of Lewis who seemed to be unstoppable at the beginning of the race.
