Mark Webber believes he could have won the Malaysian Grand Prix had heavy rain started to fall a few moments earlier.

The Australian was one of several drivers who pitted for intermediates once it became apparent that the track was not wet enough for the extreme tyres.

Surely if it had started raining a bit earlier, then JB would have had one less stop too. As he wouldn't have pitted for slicks, then had to come straight back in to pit for wets. I suppose there might be some time span where had it rained exactly then JB would stil have had to have an extra pitstop, but Webber wouldn't. But that seems a bit of a non-story.

The weather's a gamble for everybody, and not just Webber. A change in weather can benefit or harm any of the drivers out there, depending on what it does and when it does it. It's nothing new and weather will mix things up for drivers again and again. Maybe some day it will work out in Webber's favor, or maybe it never will, and maybe it will always conspire against him. Either way, that's just a part of the sport and one that Webber and everyone else out there has to deal with.

I am very happy to see Webber back and in such great form after his injury yet imho BGP still has more 'in the bag' that they are not showing until necessary. Webber 2nd or 3rd possibly yet I think an outright win at this point would be gifted due to attrition.

Duh, even Raikkonen could have won if it'd pissed it down right after he pitted! :slap:

Hey, a win is a win - the guy handing you your trophy doesn't care how or why you won it, and the points tally doesn't change because you didn't win on out-right pace. :)

Mark says a lot of things. He also said Williams was the Toyota B-Team. You have to take his words with a grain of salt, because a lot of what he says is :bs:

I agree I should have stipulated that I dont think Webbers car has the pace for an outright win in a full length race compared to the Brawn yet I have been wrong before.

Webber's living in fantasy land.

Lay off him FFS :bs:
"That cost us the win, that's what they told me," Webber told AUTOSPORT. "I didn't really know. In the car you don't see anything and I didn't have a clue what position I was in."
