Nah, it'd come off the tyre straight away. I think it's more likely that it was puncture-related.

Not sure about that - they passed when LH 'seemed to have a problem' so that was ok. Once they realized he didn't have a problem, they tried 3 times to let him past again, so that was a good faith effort as well.
At any rate, we were not discussing Toyota's mastering of the rules, but rather McLaren's.

Toyota's not knowing the regulations is a pretty important part of the discussion. As is the lack of clarity in the regulations themselves. But sidestepping particular issues is exactly the sort of intellectual dishonesty that happens when it comes to discussing McLaren.
