if this didnt involve McLaren say it was Ferrari would there be talk of them being kicked out of the championship? NOT A CHANCE

if Ferrari had been caught cheating like this, then yes, there would definitely be talk of kicking them out of the championship.

The FIA is yet to kick out McLaren, and most are saying it wouldn't happen. The point in question (please go back and read posts and make sure that you understand them before responding) is whether or not there would be talk of throwing them out of the championship. And there most certainly would be talk of throwing Ferrari out of the championship if they cheated in as blatant a fashion as McLaren appear to have.

The media is very very harsh. However it is justified that Lewis gets flack.
However the way the tabloids report is not.

Ferrari did in Monaco 06 and Schu and Todt blatantly lied to the Stewards even with the telemetry going against their word. no WMSC action was taken. starting from the back of the grid i thought was harsh enough, i felt atleast 10 spots for Mike in that race.

point is if you are around racing or have followed racing for a long time you would know manipulating the stewards is just apart of the game. its just harder to do with F1 with so many TV camera's around

Exactly. Lying and bending the rules in Formula One is nothing new. The only reason we are having this discussion is because its McLaren and/or Hamilton.

That's not entirely true. If say Ferrari had done it I bet there be an uproar from a section of users here.
I think the new FIA rules for "open media" has been the main factor behind this.

I feel that both Lewis and McLaren have been punished enough.

It is very sad that Davey has been suspended given that he has given 35 years to the Team and is a truely respected member of the Team and the sport.

However, I would hope that the FIA would take into consideration that McLaren have addressed the issue internally and acted and that a full public apology has been given by Lewis to the media and by Martin.

Surey it would not benefit F1 to exclude the McLaren from the 2009 calendar? I do not condone misleading the stewards but this has happened in the past with other teams and drivers without the result being a threat of exclusion.

And yes, the British press are at their best again (please note the sarcasm here). They build our sporting heros up and the pull the rug out from under them when they choose.

It is a sad day for McLaren but let's hope they can focus on moving foward from this a rebuild the Team and get racing again. Surely that is what we all want to see whether you support McLaren or not?

Lewis has already been punished!

The question that seems to be being asked is whether that punishment is sufficient.
