To be honest, i would have though McLaren would have known better than to present anything other than all the facts to the FiA, who have a habit of over-reacting when they feel they are being misled (Look at the BAR 007 Imola fiasco)

Which, if you remember, resulted in disqualification AND Jenson spending two races in the commentary box. Lewis and McLaren have it easy

He's good, but I think Davidson is better. I'd still rather see Ant in a car. Replacing Nakajima or Piquet, if they under-perform, may be a possibility. I would certainly hope so.

this is b*llocks both by hamilton and the FIA .....i have now officaly lost faith in formula1 and it hurts FIA /stewards = just plain stupid....and i know people r just saying your only saying this because of hamilton fan but i really am sure they have some kind of grudge against him ....but lewis why the hell lie ...they FIA have to prove it all tho...its a dark day.......

1. Hire a F'n expert on rules and regs, full time senior position. There is no reason why a team should be ignorant of any situation regarding rules. This goes for all teams. If there are questions, experts need to verify before race season.

Well, that would be pointless, for nobody can understand the rules, so full of loopholes and uncertainties are they. Anyway, whilst I think Hamilton should be punished for lying, I think the FIA have got the punishment wrong.

Yeh remove truli's penalty make hamilton 4th and then give him a fine.

Interesting that it's suddenly acceptable now that the alternative is disqualification

to be fair this is the FIA's fault from the get go for having such crap rules.

I still blame the Stewards for the whole Fiasco, first of all they should have a better clue as to what's going on on the track, Isn't that their job? The Stewards and race control should be telling the Teams where their drivers should be during a Safety Car period, that is what all other race series do. It's the reason they have radios, Race control, Transponders, corner workers etc. The Teams shouldn't have to be guessing wether or not their driver should let the guy behind them through.
Secondly in no other sports do officials make decisions based solely on asking the competitors in question. So why did the stewards base their decision on Hamilton's statement. Yes Hamilton was wrong to lie but most competitors in any sport would probably do the same thing. I don't think I've ever watched a soccer game were a ref. asked a player if he tripped someone on purpose before giving them a red card, there's a reason for this... That player will always say no regardless of wether he did or didn't.
Hamilton did what I expect 90% of the driver's would have done in that same situation, not that I agree that was a smart Idea on his part, but the punishment is way to harsh especially considering the whole mess started because the Stewards should have been doing their job properly in the first place.

Your answer avoids my point, somewhat, but I wouldn't disagree as much as you might think. Every party has some blame, but we all know where most of it lies. As usual.
