Hamilton is riding high, he is in a British Team but he has an Excellent car.

I think he's great, but the public wont group him as one of the greats until he makes the difference in a team, ie, joins a struggling team and makes them great.

That wasn't the original question (great or not). The question is who is the better driver. At the moment there's an easy answer. FA makes too many mistakes, drives raggedly, maybe overdrives because he's under pressure. LH drives virtually errorfree, so he leads the championship (which incidentally is a yardstick for the quality of a driver among other things) and deservedly so. This could change very quickly, but I doubt it...

Agree with you Darwin but deMure is right, he needs to prove himself in a difficult situation. I'm not sure he was as 'happy' on the podium this weekend as he may have been say coming third in Australia at the start of the season.

Of course he's not as happy. He's got the taste of victory and has set his sight higher now, i.e., championship. So, what's your point? He was still a hell of a lot happier than FA.

I'd say Hamilton at the moment. Alonso is making so many mistakes you'd think he's treating his McLaren like a Rally car. Hamilton is just so super cool, calm and focussed.

I'd say FA by far is the better driver at this stage. That is not reflected as much in the results. FA has proven himself to be a great driver with the 2 WDCs to show it! LH is the rookie who finds himself in the perfect storm and is sailing the waves. He has exceeded his and everyone elses expectations and now has a realistic chance for the WDC in his debut yr. An amazing feat but he has also trained and been coached to be here by a top player in the game. At present he is winning the battle with FA but FA is getting more cunning with each race. Plus FA has the better car development skills that LH is learning and benefitting from. Can LH drive a team to greatness? We know FA can. Lets talk after the next 3 races! If LH continues to beat Alonso then we can at least say as a driver he is as good and will likely get better. :D

Sure you are. But without saying so and not addressing the original question, it sounded like the question would go somewhere else than intended.

I have to disagree in the WDC issue.. FA only won the two championships because 2005 Raikonnens Mclaren let him down when leading repeatedly. and 2006 the ferrari was too slow at the start, but Schumi was the better driver.

So far it's very close with FA and LH, but i personally think LH has the edge.. and barring mechanical woes he'll win the championship this year... hopefully
