Well, an absolutely disgusting decision once again from the FIA, but totally unsurprising as well. There are a number of issues surrounding this matter. First, it was a separate issue from the actual result of the race itself. That is to say Hamilton should have hung on to third and Trulli reinstated as fourth. If Hamilton did deliberately mislead the stewards, then another penalty should have been applied, such as ban on racing etc. Second, how come the stewards did not have access to the radio transmissions like they usually do when making decisions? Why did it take several days for somebody to think to use them? Third, the whole incident demonstrates none of the teams have a bloody clue about the rules: Trulli wasn't sure whether he could pass Hamilton, and his team were none the wiser; McLaren weren't sure whether they were to give the place back or not. And, as if that's not enough, when McLaren did try to get in contact with Race Control, the line was busy - not that Race Control would be much use, as shown by Spa Francorchamps-gate. The FIA just want to **** McLaren of everything positive that comes its way - and the team won't even be competing for the title this season.

Did Mclaren complain to the "Ferrari Internationale de l'Automobile" about Trulli or did the "Ferrari Internationale de l'Automobile" blow this s..t storm up by them self??

Ok enough is enough, EmanM and I have been talking in private. He said he was gona lock this topic if you bud responded to Tony_sa next comment. Well you did. I did ask him to try and me to try and stop this. Tony_sa I really appreciate you backing me up. Thankyou greatly but lets stop here as bud will not otherwise stop and this thread will be ruined of not already ruined. Lets all just stop the insults now, the racist comments to each other and get back to the topic and if we dont agree with each others opinions lets be nice with the rebutals.

PENALTY IMPOSED ON DRIVER NO 1 LEWIS HAMILTON AND COMPETITOR VODAFONE MCLAREN MERCEDES



SUMMARY OF KEY CONSIDERATIONS


At the first hearing following the Australian Grand Prix the Stewards did not have the benefit of the radio exchanges between driver No 1 Lewis Hamilton and his Team Vodafone McLaren Mercedes nor did they have access to the comments to the Media given by Lewis Hamilton immediately after the end of the race.



From the video recordings available to the Stewards during the hearing it appeared that Jarno Trulli’s car left the track and car No 1 moved into third place. It then appeared that Trulli overtook Hamilton to regain third place, which at the time was prohibited as it was during the Safety Car period.



During the hearing, held approximately one hour after the end of the race, the Stewards and the Race Director questioned Lewis Hamilton and his Team Manager David Ryan specifically about whether there had been an instruction given to Hamilton to allow Trulli to overtake. Both the driver and the Team Manager stated that no such instruction had been given. The Race Director specifically asked Hamilton whether he had consciously allowed Trulli to overtake. Hamilton insisted that he had not done so.



The new elements presented to the Stewards several days after the 2009 Australian Grand Prix which led to the reconvened Stewards Meeting clearly show that:



a. Immediately after the race and before Lewis Hamilton attended the Stewards Meeting he gave an interview to the Media where he clearly stated that the Team had told him to let Trulli pass.


b. Furthermore, the radio exchanges between the driver and the Team contain two explicit orders from the Team to let the Toyota pass.



The Stewards, having learned about the radio exchanges and the Media interview, felt strongly that they had been misled by the driver and his Team Manager which led to Jarno Trulli being unfairly penalised and Lewis Hamilton gaining third place.

Ahem, Hamilton got what he deserved if he did indeed mislead the stewards. Sounds to me like a bit of classic McLaren over management and they failed to get their stories straight. It's unfortunate but I think Trulli 3rd is a fairer result than Trulli 16th! I don't like Toyota really but no one deserves to be excluded from both qualifying and the race especially when you still came 3rd!

It's pretty good that the FIA has released this stuff, allows a full, informed dialogue between fans and other parties about decisions. Can only be a good thing

thats pretty handy info its cool hearing the driver radio getting behind the scenes as such.

but all that is apparent is neither Jarno or Lewis knew who should have been 3rd as once Lewis let him retake 3rd Jarno tried to let Lewis go ahead again. why is it so hard for the drivers and teams to understand the rules and how the race control will rule on it? why arent the rules black and white?

its obvious Lewis felt he deserved 3rd as Trulli went off track so he obviously lied to the stewards to get what he felt was rightfully his. but in doing so Trulli didnt deserve to be punished.

All in all i hope it doesnt go any further i just want to watch racing not worry about if my team will be allowed to race..... again

Well I hear that the FIA will release a transcript of the Full recordings of Mclaren radio, a copy of the interview Hamilton gave after the race.

Until this is released I'm not saying anything.

Could people stop the fighting? On the rare occasions I create a thread, I do it for discussion, not for people to throw insults at each other. It's frustrating.

In another thread I didn't reply to a grossly homophobic statement from a certain well known person, but when this nasty stuff comes out and isn't moderated away, I'm not sure it is the right thing to do to just let it pass.
