Force India supersub Vitantonio Liuzzi is intent on staking his claim for the second Force India seat next season. The Italian replaces Ferrari-bound countryman Giancarlo Fisichella for the rest of the season at Force India, and hopes to take advantage of the good form the team is enjoying.
“This is a good opportunity for me to show what I can do,” Liuzzi told Autosport.
“It will be really important for me to show a good performance. My position in the team has grown up a lot in this last year and a half, and I have worked really hard to help the development of the car.”
The ex-Toro Rosso man also said he felt confident about being offered the 2010 race seat.
“I think I am in a strong position for the future, for sure.”
Liuzzi impressed against lacklustre team-mates in his time in F1, but not sufficiently to be retained. He will for the first time be tested directly against Adrian Sutil in next weekend’s Italian grand prix.
