Just before the French Grand Prix, Emmanuel Longobardi, a friend of Fernando Alonso, was killed in a helicopter accident. Alonso has said that his friend’s death has reminded him that motorsport is not everything and that he has been left a little frozen by the news.
Talking to Spanish newspaper Diario, Alonso said, “I was with him on Saturday afternoon. I have known him for years and we had a good friendship. He got on a helicopter to go to his hotel and we lost him. This sort of thing makes you think about what we do and what really matters. Really, the most important thing is to wake up every morning and be healthy.”
