Nine Formula 1 teams have been testing at Silverstone. Ralf Schumacher put in some blinding laps to finish top of the times, perhaps reminding his Toyota bosses that he has still got what it takes. Pedro de la Rosa was not far behind in the McLaren car. Mark Webber finished third, just ahead of Heikki Kovalainen.

Meanwhile, the two Honda powered teams decided to shun the majority and test in Jerez. Klien and Rossiter were the two drivers out on track with Klien ‘shaking down several new mechanical parts as well as testing some race start simulations. Rossiter spent most of his morning trying new setups on a circuit with low grip and high temperatures.
